Just to introduce myself. I'm new to the forum and a relatively new Saturn owner. I had one in 1996 but traded it later on. The one I have now was purchased on eBay several months ago. It's a regular U.S. release. I bought an Action Replay cart so I could enjoy Import games I never got to play my first go round. So far I have, Initial D, Sega Rally Championship, BioHazard, Deep Fear, and Vampire Hunter. I really want a copy of Castlevania: Dracula X. I mostly like survival horror and racing games, I would also like to find a RPG like Blood Omen: the Legacy of Kain. If anyone as any ideas as to must have games let me know. I live in Texas in the United States. I found this forum through MySpace. My name is Josh on there.

Hello and welcome. Its plays nothing like Blood Omen, but if you're looking for darker themed RPGs I'd recommend Black/Matrix its one of the darkest themed games out there, and its got a decent SRPG battle system, plus its super cheap Granted it is only available in Japanese, but its fairly easy to play and I think theres a guide at gamefaqs.

What about any other "horror" type games? I can't read Japanesse text. Stuff like Resident Evil/Silent Hill is my favorite type game to play. I would really like to add some simple RPG type games, non-turn based, to my collection. Then I want to get into shooters. I had Ikaruga on GameCube and it was awesome; other than that I never really got into those.

Cool Castlevania pics. I see so many mixed reviews about that version of the game. Every place I read about it, it's either the best version or the worst version. Reguardless, I want one. Thanks for the input.

I bought a copy of "D" on eBay the other day. Anyone remember that game. With it's "photo-realistic graphics" how could you not. I have not gotten a chance to play it yet. Best I recall it was pretty neat back in the day. Think I could play through in like 27 minutes. Where there anyother games like this and Myst?

Enemy Zero and Riven are ones that spring to mind.
Enemy Zero goes for abit on ebay, and dunno bout Riven though. It was released very late on in the Saturns life.

Last copy of Riven I saw went for the same sort of price as Panzer Dragoon Saga does, it comes in a similar big box with 4 discs.

Hiya and welcome to the forums. You should get Dracula X regardless. I think if you are one of those "graphics whores" then obviously stay away as the graphics are quite inferior to the PSone BUT if you are a Castlevania freak then the game is a must!! Simply because there is nothing like it on the Saturn and you will eventually appreciate the extras. I did put some stuff on youtube about the game but.. the ones I put up were just basically demonstrating the game (Since I will State I was one of the first people to put stuff up on youtube about it) but still I get sooo many smart ass comments about how my gameplay sucks etc XD Paulo is definitely a Castlevania freak!! XD Anyway I shouldn't really post these up here (since it feels like im shamefully plugging myself) But you do seem like you hardly know anything about the saturn version so here 's some links showing the saturn extras: Maria VS Beelzebub www.youtube.com/watch?v=jVjdcq4C1wcAlucard in the new garden area (what I didnt mention in this video was that I was attempting to do the super jump but the slowdown just got the timing badly out of place) www.youtube.com/watch?v=g6vXwoES3v8Boss Olrox (there is some really bad 'meshing' in the transparency department throughout but if you play a game like Cotton 2 you can see 2D transparency in spades anyway my point here is that this is one of the very few sections of the game where you see 'true' 2D transparencies although the vid might not be very clear) www.youtube.com/watch?v=fuNfNt_GPeAOne other point I should point out is that you SHOULD also consider the soundtrack is some of the best heard in any video game and its a true testament to just how good the Saturn sound chip is. My only regret after uploading these was that they should have been captured at a higher audio quality because Dracula X really does sound like everything is CD quality when in fact everything is making full use of the sound chip. Saturn exclusive sound track www.youtube.com/watch?v=NFQy5RsFILUsaturn exclusive sound track www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZsVbasqwpnEwww.youtube.com/watch?v=D_w9ttTSFScwww.youtube.com/watch?v=ADPfMUC6oL0Oh ya back to the transparency mesh thing.. this is really wierd but most people who play the psone first then see the saturn always point out about the transparencies and they assume the saturn cant handle it.. Well these pics (all were taken from the Saturn version) if you see the images on the left.. show true transparencies while images on the right shows it meshed.. The question people really need to ask is why is it like this??? and so can the Saturn really handly transparency because again all the pics here are of the saturn version.
