But, the emulator ran BETTER than a Saturn. If it was running better than a Saturn than you wouldn't have problems with it crashing before you can even get it working.

Well, the games that I did save inputs on still work just fine; my problem is configuring NEW inputs, such as for new games where I have to remap them. But, there are some games I have mapped to my keyboard and some to my Saturn controller and they function just fine, but I am unable to remap the inputs.

Here's hoping Windows 10 resolves your issue notshane. I'll probably try the same soon when I have a day off.

If it's a desktop PC, clone the current OS to a spare drive. I use removable bays so if I want to switch back to 7 its just a matter of taking one hard drive out and putting another in.

I wouldn't worry about drivers etc, Windows 10 will likely pick everything up without issue. Your old windows install will just be renamed as .old so you won't lose any of your old files.

I actually have a question regarding the "Windows.old" files. I have one that says that and another that says "Windows.old.000" because when I first built my computer, an overheating problem with my new processor resulted in a switch, and even reboot of my PC because I thought that was the problem. The second time was when I accidentally deleted the Windows folder. Yeah, don't ask, I was curious to see if it gave a unique warning but it didn't and then the whole thing went kablooey as I was unable to stop it in time and the whole system froze and that was where I did my second reinstall. I was a dumb-ass that day, but I do wonder why there is just no "You can not delete this file." kind of warning on that due to how dangerous the end result is. But, how many more of those "Windows.old" files does it actually create?

It creates one each time you upgrade your OS to a new version, if a .old folder already exists it adds zeroes to differentiate the past install folder.
If you don't use anything in those folders use the disk cleanup and remove them, they just consume space.

I've had one or two situations where it didn't. I had to go find new drivers for my sound card and there simply were no new drivers for my scanner. On my girlfriends PC we had to install a new network card as the old on-board one gave us BSOD on Windows 10.

Update time. Just wanted to let you guys know that I upgraded to the new OS, Windows 10, and it still gives me the same error as I first posted about on here. Guess the upgrade did not resolve the issue, but I should've figured it would not have done anything. I assumed it would because the error mentioned a file that said "MainWindows.cpp" on it.

Have you tried a different USB port? You say you've tried other controllers but are you using a controller adapter? If so maybe it's faulty or needs new drivers. I use a cheap usb "play sega" saturn pad myself. It sounds like a driver or hardware issue to me. Have you checked your game pad settings in control panel? There might be another device interfering with it,if so unplug it and make your game pad the default device. You may just have to get another pc or cheap laptop as suggested. (Or a Saturn)

On the note of controllers, I had lots of problems with the new test build, it crashed when exiting, locked up when going fullscreen etc., but after deleting the settings in the INI files it now works as good as before.
(the latest test build is missing a few features like bilinear filtering and screenshots though, but it is a full rewrite of the SH2 emulator, so it also fixes some gameplay bugs)

Controller adapter? I was using the Wii U GameCube Adapter and... Wait, actually...WAIT, I do remember accidentally replacing a driver from a USB with the...wait, I think I'm onto something here. I actually remember that my keyboard used to be plugged into a different USB, but I clicked "Replace Drivers" for the installer to that Wii U GameCube Adapter PC driver and it replaced my keyboard driver, so I just switched USB ports and the keyboard worked again. Hold up, I think I might have figured out what went wrong. Anyone still here, have you used this program before? bbuseruploads.s3.amazonaws.com/elmassivo/gcn-usb-adapter/downloads/WiiU-UsbSetup%202014-11-28.5.exe?Signature=rrsb33e6yLO73GrIhbmATFcW6aY%3D&Expires=1454513356&AWSAccessKeyId=AKIAIWY5XSVPZPDQYRQQ&response-content-disposition=attachment%3B%20filename%3D%22WiiU-UsbSetup%25202014-11-28.5.exe%22I remember when I was installing it, I clicked "Replace Drivers" (thinking I was hovered over "WUP-028") but I accidentally replaced the drivers for my keyboard. So, well my problem was resolved when I just switched it over to a different USB, I think SSF was still programmed to that keyboard where it previously was. As such, if I can figure out a way to re-install my keyboard drivers on that USB that I replaced the drivers in, the inputs might work again! I completely forgot I did this last August, but assuming my keyboard functioned fine after I switched the cord, I figured the problem was solved; as far as using the keyboard goes. But, I never took into consideration that SSF might still believe the keyboard is in that slot. Maybe if I can, somehow, re-install the keyboard to that particular USB slot, it might work again! Alright, guys, I have something to go off of! Wish me luck and feel free to help me out if you know how I can re-install my keyboard drivers to that USB slot! Specifically, those familiar with accidentally replacing drivers with that program I linked might be able to help me out better.

Some people use adapters so they can use actual Saturn (or whatever console) game pads on their emulators. Also If you have formatted and reinstalled everything it should have reset whatever you did before? Hope you get it sorted now!

Hmm, drivers should make no difference if you actually done a clean OS install. Once a device is attached and installed via USB, it can be moved to any available USB port. If you had to install any drivers, the moment you move the device to another port the OS will go through the process again, identify that it has a .inf or something similar available and apply the same settings.
The application itself is likely just looking for a HID compliant device or something using directinput. At this point, I honestly just think you should buy a Saturn...
