I exclusively use Linux No *spit* windoze in my house!!
Unfortunately, because of my stubornness and desire to swim against the tide, it also means I miss out on a lot of gaming related goings on. Including a decent Saturn emulator. I have an excellent MS, N64, Megadrive and Snes emulator collection (including full R0mZ sets!) but I can't get any of the SS ones to run.
Any ideas?

Not really, I must admit we are a Mac OSX & SuSE household but due to the nature of my work I have to own a windoze peecee which handles any emulation nicely.

Has there been any advance on this situation?

As far as I'm aware, there are no decent Linux Saturn Emus yet, an alternative would be to set up a windows partition soley for Saturn emulation, and obtain a cheap preowned copy (or "otherwise" obtain) Windows XP.
SSF gives me good speed on most games, although SSF currently does not display high resolution games correctly (VF2 etc, mess up big time).

In the case of the Saturn, I think it's much easier just to pick up a console and have it modded. They're dirt cheap and they'll run the games at 100% original speed and look!

Yes you're right, of course, but it's always good to have all bases covered, IMO.
The way I look at it, if I had a decent emulator, I could play my SS games on my laptop. i.e. - mobile.
Then come back home and play some more.

Ask Benjamin Heckendorn. He'd disagree. Look him up on Google. "Benheck".

And also less flexible, we owe a lot of current homebrew knowledge to emulators, as reverse engineering the hardware to make emulators really gives an insight into the workings of the machine.

emulators are great and all that (especially for screenshots) but I prefer the real thing except when emulation is :
(a) practical - e.g. MAME - who could afford to have all those cabinets (b) close enough. My own experiences with MAME and nesterDC convince me that when it looks like a duck and quacks like a duck - then it's probably a duck.
It's the way every format will go given the propensity for hardware and software media to deteriorate. God bless those who have the time, ability and inclination to do it.

You would need a powerful dual core handheld to run a saturn emu......Gamepark?
I can see the attraction of having Saturn games on a laptop, USB Saturn pad essential though. It would have to be 100% perfect for me to be arsed though.
Although I do occasionally play games on the move (PSP DS) I don't get nearly as much pleasure from it than sitting down with a big feckin arcade controller and a nice big screen........
Re davy's comment about the programmers of emulators, yeah, they are clever guys. The people who do it probably don't have much time for games.........
