I have 2 model 1 japanese saturns that play all of my games except for 2 of them and they're both in mint condition. Both games just load as audio cds. The games are Radiant Silvergun and DonPachi.
Its the weirdest thing. Ive tried adjusting the disc speed and the laser. I've tried the disc swap trick just to see if the security strip needs to be bypassed, and still nothing. Both games are super clean so my only fear at this point is that they were resurfaced and the security strip was compromised somehow. My next thought is maybe an action replay cart to bypass the security? I would just return them but a good friend picked them up while he was in japan :\
Any ideas would be much appreciated!

Try them using an emulator on your PC/Mac and see if they boot.

Thanks for the info! I tried downloading a few different emulators, including different versions of SSF and and the results were the same as my consoles. They ran every game except for those two which just ran as audio cds. Could they be corrupt somehow? They're super mint and have all of the markings of a legit saturn game so I have no idea whats going on.

do they have the correct matrix data on the inner ring of the cd ? donpachi: something like "T-14405GP-00793 1M2 C 64" then "IFPI L223" where "1M2 C 64" could be different radiant: something like "T-32902GP-02338 1M7 C 87" where "1M7 C 87" could be different If yes, they are legit.
You may try: - to check the header with SRP: if it recognizes them as saturn cd - to rip them and check the files/iso/bin-cue
