I'm wondering if I can swap the entire internals of my VA0 mk1 Saturn with a later motherboard mk1 revision. From what I can see on the back of the Saturn it has different rear psu port to the later ones, not sure if it's a plate I can remove or swap and internal the PSU is mounted on the top part of the case. Anybody know if it's possible?

I'm not entirely sure, VA0 uses different form factor not just for the power supply but for the power/reset buttons and the CD Lid sensor too.

Thanks zyrobs, I thought that might be the case.

Have you considered putting in a Micro-ATX power supply instead? There are several youtube tutorials on this and it's probably cheaper than sourcing another power supply.

I think those Micro-ATX psus require you to have one of those adapter blocks you see on laptops? Not a fan of those or step downs.
The plan is to have a Japanese Grey machine but with a PAL psu inside, I've got a couple of PAL Saturns with Type B psu boards (I think) so will be getting another Grey Saturn that has a va 1-5 motherboard. Will probably pick up a White Saturn too because it looks really nice.
Thanks for your help, guys!

Well, I now have about five Saturns! 3 Japanese models, and 2 Pal...I forgot to check which Pal models I had (All VA9s) before I bought the other 2 Japanese machines and they're both Type B PSUs :/ I'm going to have to sell one of the Pal machines to fund another purchase lol
Does anybody know if the cd drives are interchangeable between regions?

it's easier with M2 console. I swapped the PSU with AU 240V version on the JP motherboard and the EU bottom shell and the white JP top shell. (just make sure the pins on the board match with the slots on the PSU.)

Yeah, I'm pretty sure (famous last words) I just need a type B PSU which is the long board with the 5 pins. So you have a two tone console, any pics? that sounds cool.
I think I'll get a step down to hold me over until I find a faulty Saturn with the right PSU on ebay, meanwhile, I've ordered some switchless 50/60hz and region mod kits! Excited to get them implemented.
