Hey, I own a Japanese Model 1 Saturn that simply refuses to save. I have two memory RAM carts that work, but even the official one doesn't show up in the Saturn's Memory Manager screen. I know it's a battery-related problem because of how often it goes back to the Time & Date Entry Screen. I've tried replacing the battery with an Energizer 3VCR2032 Battery, with no success. After a few reboots, my Saturn's saves are gone, and it reverts back to the Date & Time Entry Screen.
The battery is facing up in its correct position, and I've tried doing a Master Reset with the blue button in the back, but nothing seems to work. I would just rely on my Memory Carts to save, but none of the games I own save to the cart, just the System Memory.
I'm out of options, and I can't seem to get a solution anywhere. Any suggestions for a fellow Saturn Enthusiast? Should I take it somewhere to be repaired?

Do you have action replay? You can transfer saves from the memory card before the game boots and then transfer it back to the card on a reset.
What the technical solution is I don't know, but open up the Saturn and make sure the old battery hasn't leaked onto the motherboard? Make sure the system reset button isn't stuck in etc?

My Saturn has had the same problem the entire time I've owned it. I usually get a month out of a new Energizer battery. It seems to be a pretty common issue from what I have found, but no one I've seen has found a resolution. I've heard it possiblity be caused by a failed/failing diode.

This is an issue on model I Saturns, usually caused by damage to the battery connections when trying to remove a CR2032. That's why in the model II they added a small cutout in the battery compartment to aid extraction.
