Has anyone done any work on this? Got one about a year ago and it works just fine but the stick could be a bit more sensitive and one of the buttons could be just a bit more responsive too. So before I open it up and have a look - does joystick and button replacement require any soldering or is it all done with connectors? I have the Wii Tatsunoko v Capcom stick and it is all quick swap out. I've ordered some Sanwa buttons for it as one of them has started losing it's sensitivity which is quite common apparently. So I was wondering if this stick can be upgraded in a similar way.

I've been meaning to look at this myself, the buttons look like they would directly swap out with some OSBF-30 snap-ins. Do you know if you have the Seimetsu or Ascii stick/buttons? You can usually tell by raising the dust cover for the stick. I'm guessing if your buttons have crapped out then they're Ascii.

Only the blue A button is slightly dodgy. The rest are fine. A works - it just feels a bit different than the others - just doesn't feel right and needs a slightly harder press.
The stick is fine too - but it needs to be pushed a bit too hard for up and down to register than I would like. Makes bullet dodging in hori shmups tough.
Maybe the stick just needs some lubrication/cleaning. Not sure.
Re Ascii/Seimetsu - I'll have a look later under the dust cover.

Use Seimitsu LS-56-01 for the stick and Seimitsu PS-15 for the buttons. Larger buttons will not fit, either due to the diameter or the height of the buttons. The stick is a drop-in replacement.
However you will need to file down the pegs on the button holes, for the PS-15s to fit in. You will also need to damage the front sticker to remove the stick, since the screws are covered by it.
I have a full set of... basically everything for that pad, except a mainboard to go inside, for someone who wants to experiment with it. Box, manual, the top plate with the pegs filed down, the white plastic cover with one extra button hole drilled to both sides and the back, a seimitsu stick, an extra octagonal restrictor, and dozen or so seimitsu buttons of various colours, plus the original stick and buttons). If you want it, I'll only ask for the price of the seimitsu hardware plus shipping.

Could you quote me a price? I'm not sure yet and don't want to waste your time but I'd be interested to hear how much that would cost with postage. So if you don't mind doing that I might be tempted.

I'll dig it up and do measurements and pics. Keep in mind that shipping could be pretty steep, due to weight, and the pound falling in value. The seimitsu stuff cost me 5325 yen from akishop, google says that this is 37 gbp currently.
Keep in mind that the stick has no pcb inside, so it doesn't work per se, I just want to get rid of its parts for whoever needs them as spares.
edit: I'll need to measure the weight, but if I can fit it under 3kg then postage to UK is 35 pounds normally (tracked), 45 with EMS (insured and express).

I'm not sure if I'll be venturing down this road so please don't take up too much time - whenever you have the time. It's probably a bit pricey for me at the minute and I appreciate postage can be costly.
I saw a youtube video where the guy applies some lubrication to the stick and it worked out well so I might try that first.

Opened the stick up last night. As suspected it's an ASCII joystick. It is immaculate inside though - no dust or anything. I applied a few spots of lubricating oil to the switches in the stick and it's now operating silky smooth! Will see if this fix lasts. Played a couple of games of Darius Gaiden with it. Sweet. The A button now seems to be working just fine for some reason so this will do me for now so zyrobs - don't worry about getting a quote for me.
