Okay it's a battle of the cute 'em' ups Shumps this week. Which will it be: Twinkle Star Sprites, Game Paradise or Sexy Parodius? Pick one and list your reasons why below GAME PARADISESEXY PARODIUSTWINKLE STAR SPRITES

Twinkle Star Sprites is best played on Neo-Geo. I'm going with Game Paradise because it's the most memorable.

There's some debate about TSS on NeoGeo, and the Saturn and DC ports. I remember there being discussion here about it. Have read a few articles online and opinions differ as I don't think there is a definitive best version. It being an SNK game though the original on NeoGeo is probably the preferred option - and if it was one of those giant cartridges so much the better! Haven't played it so can't judge - though the Saturn version has an option to replicate the NeoGeo slowdown. TSS is really a 2 player game though - the one player experience is just OK-ish. Hard to choose - but I'd have to go for the one I have probably played more of - and I think Sexy Parodius just squeezes Game Paradise out. In a 2 player scenario though, TSS wins easily.

TSS is the best SNK port after metal slug on the Saturn, my favourite 2 player shooter, no contest. Easily on par with the neo version, I have both, neo geo version is on the 111-1 multi.

Can't choose on quality, each of these games is ace in their own right. So it's down to gameplay time. I have played sexy parodious most so there you have it.
TSS best 2player shooter ever!
Game paradise, tour de force, a love letter to video games and the shooter genre.
Sexy parodius, the zenith of one of the greatest shooter series of all time. Konami really made the best of the saturns hardware.

1) Sexy Parodius - great graphics, music and playability 2) Twinkle star sprites - Saturn has a decent port, extra character and anime intro for what it's worth. 3) Game Tengoku - This is pretty decent but I found I had to play around with the settings to make the game more playable, on it's default settings I found it not much fun. The levels are very interesting and varied but then it's getting a port for ps4 and steam I think.

Parodius definitely went out on a high. The missions and branching level structure in Sexy Parodius was a great addition to the series and it left me wanting more. I think if Treasure did to Parodius what they did to Gradius I would buy whatever console it was released on. www.segasaturn.co.uk/beta/region/jpreviews/sexy-parodius/

After extensive play with all three my vote goes to Game Paradise. It's one of the few shumps I can pick up and play on a regular basis that doesn't frustrate me.

I played a lot of the caravan modes on Game Paradise. Very enjoyable. Haven't spent a huge amount of time on the main game modes.

What´s the difficulty of Sexy Parodius like? I really like the look of it but I hate Bullet Hell shmups. I suck at shmups in general, but if it´s not obnoxious with it then I may enjoy it. I quite liked Cuphead´s shmup sections (apart from the robot) so this could be something that I actually dig.

It's far from a bullet hell shooter, not that hectic, and no firework displays of bullets. It's a really nice game graphics wise, lots of good humourous touches. Highly reccomended.

Great. I´ll try and get a hold of it later in the year, unless I see a good deal (or someone in the group sells it).
I think I need a shmup in my library. I´ve had the Saturn for years now and don´t have a single shmup!

Main issue is that I hate shooters. I find most quite obnoxious. The only ones I can think of that I´ve enjoyed are Cuphead and the shmup bits in Shadows of the Damned. They just aren´t my bag!
Game Paradise and Sexy Parodius are the two Saturn shooters that look like they may be something I´d enjoy.... but I´m not sure.
