As the title says, is it possible for the AR to completely break my game? Not my save, but the actual game?
I wanted to try out a code for Dark Savior for a laugh, so I input the code. I assumed it would have been fine, because it didn´t stipulate whether it was PAL/NTSC.
After that, I couldn´t load my save file. AT ALL. I tried moving it to the memory backup and deleting from the main memory. Same thing happens. Tried removing the AR cart completely. Still the same thing.
I though the AR only temporarily alters code to do a thing, but maybe I was wrong.
Is it fixable or is my game now dead?
Thanks

It's possible a save file could become corrupted I suppose. But the actual game code obviously cannot be altered.

Well weirdly I gave up on it and tried to lift my spirits with Virtua Cop. I then tried again and it worked fine but it didnt detect the save. I copied the save to memory, deleted the original, and then re-copied it back and suddenly it was fine.
I guess it´s just one of the games many, many bugs.
Oh well!

The only way you can damage a game while it's in the machine is to cause laser burn (i.e. the disc touches a hot laser lens while it's spinning). This could happen if you severely knock the console while it's spinning the disc. Don't think I've ever done it but have received discs with the damage.

It's not the game's fault, it was the AR. They can have detrimental effects on your system, like deleting or corrupting saves.

That's has maybe happened to me once in all of 20 years but if it's a regular occurance with your AR then get yourself A Saturn Datalink as well and back all your save files up on a pc/laptop as well just incase. All my Saturn saves are also on my laptop should system memory or cartridge memory randomly fail. You'll need an older AR model with the comms port and not the flimsy new builds.
