Hi guys/girls, does anyone know if the region free BIOS mod works on the V-Saturn? Should work just the same as a regular Saturn right? No differences if we add the 50/60hz switch too?

I'm waiting on my hi-Saturn to return from region free & fram modding. They said they could do any model and I almost sent a V.
You should be fine.

V-Saturns are 100% identical to normal Japanese saturns other than having a custom bios rom and an uglier case. I once sent a guy a V-Saturn with a region free Hi-Saturn bios.

To the best of my knowledge you can't just swap the splash screen because it's deep inside the code and nobody reverse engineered it before. However all the bios roms have been dumped, and as the hardware is the same, you can just pick and choose whichever you use in your machine. About the only "incompatibility" is that the earliest ones need a CD drive attached to work, otherwise they don't boot (while later ones boot but with misaligned cubes) - but that may be related to the CD block firmware (which is something you'd be extremely unlikely to replace), not the bios rom. edit: which model Hi-Saturn do you have, by the way...? Is it a model one with the serial starting with BC5000...?

I'll have to check the box/contents, if not there, Saturday afternoon it should be in my possession. Now the question I'm nervous to ask...why? If it was already region free, I'm a dumbass. Dual region would be nice but I use NA,JP and Pal so I still needed a change. imgur.com/YZ71FizI believe it's BC51003181

I'm looking for mpeg cards that came with very early edition Hi-Saturns. Yours is a later edition.

Nothing new hardware wise since I was here last. You should be up to date.

Cheers guys that's what I thought but as we've never done a regionfree BIOS on a V-Saturn I just wanted to check.

Well, A) we hadn't opened it yet and B) things can look identical yet still be different. Anyway, we now have a region free V-Saturn
