Been a while! Anyone here happen to have In the Hunt for JPN Saturn? Been after it for a long time but always put it off, finally pick it up and sods law...it won't boot. Get the initial Sega splash screen then nothing. Disc continues to spin for two minutes or so until coming to a stop.
Have seen the odd mention or two of it on other forums from years back, that maybe the model and bios have something to do with it, kind of like Outrun.
So anyone here have it working on their Saturn? If so could you possibly confirm the model and bios your Saturn uses?

It's been a long long time, but I recall someone mentioning that unplugging the controllers before powering on the machine makes the game boot up. I could be wrong though.

Gave that a crack but no dice. Bit of a mystery this one, I've tried on four Saturns so far, only noted the bios on one which was 1.01 but two model 1 and two model 2 systems with same result. Also tried booting it with an Action Replay, nothing. Last test was burn a ripped copy and again, not even a hint of it booting so figure there must be someone out there who has it working else I'd expect a fair few mentions of it on tinternet.

Turn on your saturn without the disc in an when you get to the options to play game/cd put the disc in and boot from there .

Just to eliminate the obvious. Is the disc JPN or NTSC-U ? Is Saturn Console manufactured for JPN or USA?
FWIW my JPN copy runs fine on my Saturn when it's switched to JPN machine region and US copy runs fine when the Saturn is switched to US machine region.

JP version of In The Hunt is infamous for having some bug that prevents it from running on all models, but we've yet to identify as to exactly what it is. Back on the satakore.com forums, someone tried running it on something like half dozen different consoles and nothing concrete was found.
The game also had a second revision, probably to fix the bugs, but it's pretty rare and I've yet to see it online.

My copy ran on my PAL Saturn with a region cart. Has never booted on any of my JP Saturn’s. I have tried using pseudo Saturn as well, says the disc is Korean, still won’t load. Not one my favourite games to play on Saturn tbh, a bit stilted gameplay-wise, looks great though ... the arcade played loads better, runs perfectly in mame.

It's been mentioned a lot that it doesn't seem to boot on various models of Saturn. However I'm beginning to think it might be a region lock issue where the game has it's own checks or the game has some issue with the Action Replay. Did you try it on a Japanese NTSC console unit? That said there's an odd thread on this site here with more information and suggested ways to get around it: segasaturngroup.proboards.com/thread/3177I have a PAL copy myself and it runs on both my PAL Model 1 & 2 Saturn. That said the PAL release would be a bug fixed version, but I've heard many people couldn't get the PAL version to run either. Satakore lists the Japanese disc versions as T-15006GP-00554 & fixed version as T-15006GP-00554A. Check the flip side of the CD the number will show in the inter ring on the disc

My PAL version didn't work. As I knew nothing about the bug I binned it years ago.
Ouch.
However I have it for PS1 and I hear it plays better.
