I have no run and gun games for my Saturn collection and I want to change that now.
Which run and gun games on the Saturn you would consider as a must own/must play?

I made a thread about this ages ago: segasaturngroup.proboards.com/thread/6739/seemingly-elusive-saturn-run-gunI know it doesn't seem exhaustive, but sadly, it kind of is, unless you want to include games with isometric/top-down views. Of those I'd vouch most for Metal Slug, Silhouette Mirage (not necessarily a "true" run 'n gun, but another great game by Treasure), Elevator Action Returns (which I've come around on since then), and Wolf Fang (forced scrolling, so not quite traditional).

In the Hunt plays like a run and gun, but you're controlling a little submarine.. unusually for a 2D game though, the PS1 version is regarded as the better one.

Thanks a lot for the info. I will check out the games assman. Metal Slug is solid recommendation for sure. Siluette and Mirage also sounds like really good recommendations. Elevator Action Returns also looks cool. @buckoa51a In the Hunt looks like a nice game. I really like how the water is animted. In case the PS1 version is better I would get the ps1 version then.

Elevator action returns is a great game, super expensive, but it’s been pricey for 10 years or so. If you have the cash I’d recommend it highly. Think I paid £150 for my complete copy, that was eight years ago. As for in the hunt (jp), watch out, it only plays on a few saturns, my copy won’t work on any of my consoles, and I have four. It used to play on my pal Saturn with a region cart, but that console died. There are 2 versions, I apparently have the first revision.

Hey Marc i think i paid £82 for Elevator Action Returns in 2011. It has always been a top dollar game, at least with ODE's more people can play it nowadays. Shame about In The Hunt as id love to pick it up but nlt if i cant get the 2nd revision. Great to see you back on here again a man with 2d games in his heart 😀.
