Reading discs as audio and doesn't seem to be the laser

I have an odd one where one of my Saturn's only reads discs as audio and even does the same with Fenrir.

I have tried the following:

Swapped the laser assembly out with a like for like working version

Changed the CD ribbon cable

Changed the power supply

Recapped the motherboard

Checked the board for broken traces and haven't seen any so far.


I am starting to think one of the ic's have gone, but being stubborn refusing to give up.

Anyone else come across something similar and been able to resolve?
