I am now the *Proud* owner of a beautiful Die Hard Arcade ST-V cab.
I will be adding a saturn to the machine and was wondering if anyone had any experiencing modding a saturn to a jamma machine. I am looking for any pointers or guides if anyone knows any to aid me in my creation of an incredibly awesome machine.
Any help would be great, will post cab pics tonight!
You'd probably be better off asking over at Games SX, however I think you probably will need to sacrafice two Saturn pads, to get the encoder chips from inside them and make an adapter for your harness, so the joysticks can interface with the Saturn.
I was afraid I would be building it by hand, While I could build it entirely myself, its unfortunate since I know the Saturn timer Exists! Here's a picture
Just FYI the pictured timer is a bit more than a direct hookup,
It will allow you to use Real coins for timed play should you ever choose when connected to your . It will also flash some colors ( R G or B ) as an overlay on the game when your time (from the quarter) is running out.
Most importantly you can keep the Saturn (AV cable too!) and the cabinet unmodified. It also takes care of the controller emulation rather than having to manually solder to 2 controller pcbs (HUGE PLUS!) It also has some additional features such as adjusting the volume before the Jamma Connector,
They generally go for about $75+ but they can save some major headache. They make them for most everything even PC Engine (http://nfggames.com/forum2/index.php?topic=2974.0) The issue is Sourcing them these days!
Yes I will be getting as many ST-V Carts as possible! I am currently bidding on Steep Slope Slider (Im an addict for this game) and also Virtua Fighter Remix. I'm also planning on getting Radiant too, the cart is way cheaper than the saturn version!

Good stuff, there are some really nice inserts for Radiant Silvergun out there on the web, I am not sure if they are designed for Shock Boxes though?
Also, ST-V is region locked, so Japanese carts will not work on a UK ST-V etc... is yours modded?
Im acctually hoping to make my own bios chip. However I can not find any info on building the "Switchless" version I see for sale online. So I might indeed purchase one. I was having some dificulties finding a supplier of the required chip anyway.
It looks like My Saturn may be the only system in my cab that I do not use a MGCD/Timer for. I can't seem to source one.. Controller destruction here I come.
As promised, here are some pics. Unfortunately I took these pictures prior to acctually cleaning off the cab so it appears to have more blemishes than are really there.

If anyone would like additional pictures let me know.
Woo who! I won Steep Slope Sliders for the ST-v on ebay. Unfortunately i was outbid on Virtua fighter remix by $0.50.
Oh well, It looks like will be undertaking installing a modded Xbox in cabinet first console wise. I am getting a parts list togather to order today. then comes the saturn!
As of today I own 4 games for the beast. I've got DHA, Steep Slope Sliders, Winter Heat, and Taisen Tanto-R 'Sasshissu As of currentI can not play the last title due to bios limitations... Soon to be addressed I hope.
Well guys, I've ordered the Multi Jamma and the Xbox timer so I'll be waiting on those various parts. In the mean time I have been trying to clean the inside of the cab.
One thing I am not fond of (in regard to this cab) is the pouris texture on the inside of the cabinet, it's much more course than the outside and a real pain to clean, I feel like I am just moving the dust back into the pores.
Once all the parts get here I plan to test the timer before making any internal modification to the machine... from there it's all Dremel, sweat, and blood
