Today is a sad day to me. One of my Saturns just started to faint. I turn it on and the green led lights up, the CD drive runs the CD but there is no image on the screen, the chanell changes though. I don't know what may be wrong with the console since last time I played it it ran well, and it has been in a draw for a month and so. Didn't fall down, nothing... Anyone has any idea?

Havoc, you may need to get some actual contact cleaner, also make sure none of the contacts that the pins go through are bent back, broken or otherwise damaged.

Yes I will. I hate to fix consoles up, I hate screws and things with PCBs. But its for the gaming sake, so I will have to do it, eventually. For now ill play in the other saturn.

Ok, the D Day has come. Today I shall solve this problem that has been tormenting me for the last... Hmm... Few minutes. Operation Saturn Restoration shall start in 10 minutes, after the mission briefing.
OPERATION SATURN RESTORATION Mission Objectives:
-Close the bedroom door, so mom wont annoy me with the fact that I should be studying;
-Turn on the radio on some retro station;
-Scratch my nose;
-Stop writing crap on forums and get to work;
-Open the case;
-Wash the case because its all dusty;
-Pray not to find any pubic hair in the case or inside console;
-Find the system problem;
-Solve the problem;
-Close the case;
-Post results on forums;
-Go study Psycology;
OPERATION SATURN RESTORATION NOW STARTING...

Ok... Mission update... Oh well I'm just gonna cut this mission thing, isn't fun anymore. :s Well the problem with my Saturn seems to be a bad contact between the power suply unit and the motherboard. It has 4 pins that connect directly to the power unit and it seems that the pins aren't in such a good condition since if the unit slips a bit up or down it stops working. So I used a little of rubber to try and keep it steady but its not working that well, sometimes it doesnt work and when it does the system will eventually freeze... Can't find a way to solve this im now reduced to one system and it saddens me... See on the image, the part inside the yellow circle is where the pins connect to the PSU, they come from below and penetrate (I like this word ;D) in the PSU. And on this one you can see the effects of a bad contact between PSU and motherboard. Instead of two cubes on the sides you get two balls, its good if you dont have a pair of these yet, and a crappy sound. My morale is too low now to study, ill just go play on the one saturn that still works...

You can bend the contact in the connector on the powerboard to sit better on the Saturn's motherboard...

You usually get those red-ball symptoms when there's a bad connection between the motherboard the laser unit.
I'd check the ribbon cable that connects the motherboard to the laser unit. Jiggle it around and/or take it out & reconnect them, and see what kind of results you get with that.

This happend to me today, powersupply pins and board went kapupt followed by connection to cd unit. used new ribbons but no dice. Well at least you have a spair saturn, looks like i'll have to hunt down a saturn in the mean time

-Pray not to find any pubic hair in the case or inside console;... I wouldn't worry about that unless you owned a copy of Steam Heart's. Yeah I had the big red spheres problem when my modchip died on me. Removing it solved the problem, so it's probably the contact between the laser unit and the motherboard like termis suggested.

I grabbed my Saturn and shook it and headbutted it a couple times when I got mad at a game in front of a friend. The system itself stayed in working order though! Just bought a new modchip and went to town. ...yeah I have a tendency of breaking things. :/ I lost a laptop the same way when the net died while I was chatting to someone on it. Motherboard came in half. I have anger issues and have yet to seek mental help. :/ Don't get me wrong! I'm a nice guy... I just explode for no reason at random so don't be surprised if I say something of mine broke.
