Is it possible to keep data in memory while changing the lithium backup-battery? I have no backup cartidge, so I was wondering if it was possible in other ways...

A few people have reported that changing the battery quickly with the system turned on will preserve saves, I have never tried this so you do so at your own risk!

the battery is only for preserving saves when the machine is off so changing it when the machine is on is the only way to have uninterupted savegame goodness (thats if u don't have a memory card)

as long as you don't happen to touch the blue button while the system is on, nothing bad will happen to your saves
