What makes these HDTV's compatible with the Virtua Gun and could there possibly be any U.S. models that are compatible?

They're CRT so they pick up the lazers.
All other HDTVs are LCD or Plasma, and they don't work with it.

Hm I'll have to check but I'm pretty sure my Sanyo CRT HDTVs do not work with the Virtua Guns. Although I don't remember and it's going to be awhile before I can verify it myself

Neither of those TVs work with Virtua Guns, or any old light guns for that matter.
Both display at 100Hz and Virtua Guns do not work on 100Hz CRTs.

Bugger, Dreamcast guns work fine on 100Hz TVs.

It's also gotta be said that these TVs kind of suck ass. While vertically, they do indeed display 720/1080 lines of resolution, the amount of horizontal detail is not very good.
Samsung themselves said it's approximately 800 pixels across of detail you are seeing on these TVs, the approximation is used because CRTs have an infinite horizontal resolution and the amount of detail you see from any given signal is simply defined by the dot-pitch of the aperture mask.
