Hi,
Got chip from robb webb today.
Installed chip for 21 pin saturn, I have the 21 pin saturn. I followed the guide on consolegoods.co.uk on his site, Once installed sound becomes destorted, two large coloured circles appear on dash where they should be cubes and the disc drive doesn't spin.
Someone shed some light on this problem

Difficult to pinpoint, because the symptoms you describe happen when the saturn doesn't recognize the laser unit.
Which simply means the modchip isn't relaying the signals properly between the motherboard and the laser unit, and it's hard to narrow down the exact problem, other than what you already know (that is, there's a problem with the modboard installation).
Those symptoms can arise from anything really, from simply a loose connection of the ribbons, to the mod board not getting the proper power from the +5v, to the mod board simply being bad, or your saturn not liking that particular modchip...
Check your connections again. I haven't worked with recent modchips, so I can't be too helpful with the specific installation instructions. (Though I understand most are really simple these days)

I think my saturn is dead, there is no sound now. when before it was destorted. Drive doesn't work with or without chip installed.
Worst day ever !

Hard to kill a saturn this way by fudging a mod-job.
Check your ribbons - some of them ONLY work when they're inserted one-way or the other, and also check to see if the small metal pins at the end of the ribbon are still in good shape. Sometimes they come get pulled up and start to cross with each other & short the signals.
If you get the data ribbons back in working order, you should be able to at least get your saturn in its original, non-modded condition. Once you do that, try the installation again, slowly, and one-step at a time.

I've tried new ribbon cables and my saturn still wont work with or without chip. I've cleaned the connectors desoldering and resoldered the connections.
I'm at my wits end i give up, looks like thats 12 quid down the drain and a broken model 2 pal saturn too. Well i've had a bad bad bad day
