Hi guys, i was wondering if the backup memory worked as the default memory storage instead of using the on board, or if do you have to move it across manually?
Also how long do the internal batteries last because when ever ive bought saturn's in the past they always have a dead battery.
Thanks.

That's generally dependent on the game. For some games, you'll have the ability to choose where you want to save/load, and it'll stick to that after you tell it to do that once.
For some games, it'll save on the on-board memory first, and once you move it over manually, the game will see that the save file is in the memory cart and start to work off of that file.
For the handful of 1MB/4MB expanded RAM-cart enabled games, you have no option, and it'll only save to the on-board memory because the game is expecting that the cart slot is being taken up by the RAM expansion.
As for battery life, I can only speak for my experience. But it seems to last me a good chunk of time -- we're talking at least a year, maybe even upto two once you put in a fresh one in there.

My original Battery lasted 5 years before finally dying, Still on the second one and I got the Saturn in 1996. The more you play the longer they seem to last I think.
