the question is .. do you like Treasure games ?? If so then you will probably enjoy it..
its a shmup with level up elements from RPGs.. so it is different to a lot of other shmup games..
It's not like any other shmup .. its a very long game and very challenging.. can take you around 3~4 hours to complete from beginning to end
It's not very rare its quite common I think about 50k~60k sold in its lifetime. but its in demand so I guess thats why its value is high..

Having reflected on this for many years I have to say... it's a great game, a great technical display of the Saturn's capabilities, but nevertheless too expensive for what it is and how common it is.

The game isn't for everyone though. If you like high action mindless shmups, you'll hate it.

I'd say yes and no. Its certainly challenging and I still haven't completed the game to this day without the use of action replay cheats. I bought it off the strength of Sega Saturn magazines review back in the day (95%) for 65 quid. The price was certainly escalating then but not to the extend it has gotten to today. Its a great shooter and extremely challenging which might take you a couple of attempts to complete. So in longevity value its definitely worth the money. However under today's pricing for the game, I'd probably not make it first game priority but still nice to have in your collection nontheless. I will say though, out of all the overpriced Saturn games out there at the moment, Radiant Silvergun is one of the better ones. You won't feel short changed with this game.

Playing the game properly requires an insane amount of memorization. You have to play it like a robot would and chain everything, or your weapons will be extremely weak. I don't care for it.

I have posted a review of Radiant Silvergun on this very site.
Its an excellent shmup, but not for everyone - even shmup fans. It is easy to see where its sequel, Ikaruga, has come from in this game. It isn't an out-an-out shooter as it requires some thought. It's a pity more people didn't get to play it when it appeared as it moved the genre in a new direction that may have averted the demise of shmups in their current form.
