SERIOUSLY
Why does everyone hate this game?
It arrived today in the post (paid £3 off ebay for it in mint condition with even the original bits of paper about the tournament for the game etc)
Just whacked it in first time playing, came 1st by the end of the game!
Sure the controls are odd but i actually find it kinda easy!
The trick I found is to literally hold the direction you;re turning down and the car does most of it for you, it's easy!?
I still need to practice not crashing on the real tight bends but srsly it's not as hard as people make out.
BTW I used the analogue controller, then swapped to d-pad. Analogue is obviously easier but d pad still works fine.
I find this game to be amazing
My only gripe is that the frame rate can be real chuggy.
Seems they wanted good draw distance and good detailed levels in sacrifice of frame rate.
Seriously, i find this game easier than daytona usa CCE in terms of control... bleh enough ranting...

Because it's an awful port.
The Arcade version makes the Saturn version look like the rainbow at the end of a pot of gold.

I've never tried the arcade version so I guess I wouldn't know.
However daytona and sega rally arcade are obviously better than the saturn yet people still love them so I don't find that a valid reason.
I prefer the console versions myself. Don't know why, I just do.
Maybe I'm a sucker for the saturn but I was also having a blast on doom and despite the awful frame rate I was sitll having loads of fun and enjoying playing it.

Sega Touring Car is awful, they screwed up the controls, there's loads of popup and the handling charicteristics of the cars were all screwed up somehow in the conversion.

I hate Sega Touring Car with the reason being due to the awful handling/controls of the cars themselves. I decided to have a go on it a little while back to see if it was as bad as I remembered and I just found it baffling that the developers/play-testers thought that it would make for an enjoyable gameplay experience.
Because of the frustrating controls it’s hard to appreciate any good points about the game. I guess the nicest thing I could say about it, is that its an acquired taste.

The cars feel like they're moving to fast & the steering is twitchy, almost as if the game itself is running at high speed. If they slowed it down may by 10/15% it could have been better.

My thoughts excactly. It's probably the only racing game I've played that I wish would run slower. slowing it down a little would solve some problems but tighter controls would help a lot too.

I found the controls to be ok, sure i hit the walls a few times but for the most part it was super easy to turn with the analogue. maybe its just me heh.

Sega Rally Championship and Daytona USA only realy suffered graphically - the gameplay on them is still relatvley the same as the Arcade version and the sound is actually enhanced. Touring Cars is just screwed up in about every area you'd care to mention.
