Howdy all, Speedle here UK based, and I finally gave into the urge to get myself a Saturn. I've been thinking about it for ages now and not ever being able to afford one back in the day and always judging it on the opion of the masses i thought it was about time i check it out and made up my own mind. So one cheaky bid and £20 later i became the proud owner of a boxed Saturn and this little bundle of goodness! All i have to say is it puts a grin on my face, Sega Rally was all it took to get me smiling! i love it! hoping to get it mod chipped at some point soon and start enjoying some of the uber expensive jap games The console, gun and steering wheel all in Mint condition and all the games complete and boxed! Games; * Hi Octane * Loaded * Black Dawn * Blam! Machinehead * Die Hard Trilogy (3 games) * UEFA Euro 96 * Mortal Kombat 3 * NFM Madden 97 * Virtua Fighter 2 * Virtua Cop (for use with the Virtua Gun, see below) * Sega Rally Championship * Daytona USA - Championship Circuit Edition If anyone wants a copy of UEFA Euro 96 for free ya'll let me know

Cheers Mick Pretty pleased with it I must say, without doubt one of the most undervalued systems out there and unfairly labeled by many as rubbish when in facts its a great machine with alot to offer

Hi there. Great starter collection you got there. The Saturn box looks to be in especially good condition. A rare thing these days.
Welcome to SS:UK, mate.

...hoping to get it mod chipped at some point soon and start enjoying some of the uber expensive jap games By that, I hope you mean downloading Japanese games. Modchip won't allow the play of games from another region. But since you said "expensive", I will assume you meant download (don't forget to patch!) the expensive Japanese games. Son, if you do that, you are in for a treat. Some of them are so good, I've actually dished out the high prices for some of them. Yes, my system is chipped, and even then I found myself needing to purchase them. But not all the good games are expensive. In fact, most of the really good games can be had for cheap depending on the region and amount of patience you have. I warn you though... a modchip can ruin the system for you if you like owning originals. Once you start downloading, you won't be able to stop. Once you've played everything or if you have too many games, you'll quickly bore of the system so be careful. Also, free UEFA Euro 96? Is it a rubbish game? By the way, AWESOME deal! Good job!

Er yes they will. It depends on what type of modchip he's planning to get. I have a PAL Saturn and run all my Jap games through with it with no hassle. I've never downloaded a Saturn game in my life.
All you needs is an 4in1 Action REPLAY Cart plus a speed switch and you'll be all set. The 4in1 Cart is crucial is you plan on getting games that require extra ram(which you can't get via download) That's what I would recommend anyway. If you want extra info on how to obtain those things. Let me know
Welcome to the boards.

Whats an 'ST KEY'? I've never heard of it. An if it doesn't give you the extra 4meg, memory space and action replay codes then whats the benefit of it?
As far as i know. The 4 in 1 carts are compatible with EVERY PAL Saturn. I've had 2 in my 10 year saturn period, one of which lasted for over seven years and still running with and no problems while the other one I lost. The Action Replay codes are handy too. Cause if like me you find there are some games that you just don't have the patience for anymore or wanna try out new tricks like i.e Guardian Heroes or the super hard Radiant Silvergun, e.t.c The Action Replay cheat codes will add the longevity to all your games and keep them from collecting dust at the bottom of your Saturn pile. Another example of this would be Resident Evil. Completed it with both Jill and Chris as well as had a go on the battle mode section. After that I didn't really have an incentive to replay the game from the beginning. With Action Replay cheats codes. I've managed to extend the longevity and make it even more interesting so I play it more and more.
Keeping the 4in1 cart in your cartridge slot actually extends the cartridge slots shelf life as it acts as a kind of dust protector. There's no harm in it. It actually does you a lot of good. You never have to take it out, just leave it in there. Unless your playing PDS

Yea the ST-Key is brilliant it's the one with an over-thick PCB that wrecks your cartridge port over time. I would also clarify that NO internal mod-chips change the system's region, all they do is bypass the copy protection, nothing else.

So again, if the ST KEY wrecks your cart slot what are its benefits? I'm really trying to understand why someone would opt for that over a 4in1 it makes no sense. Maybe I'm missing something, I'll do a bit of online research methinks.
As for your question Yart and Speedies inqquiry. Go to Console Passion. That's where I got my 4in1 and speed switch fitted. Will probably set you back just over 50 pounds if you include the P&P. And its definitley worth it. Finding someone that fits the bypass protection switch so you can play region free games by a flick of a switch, is rarer and rarer these days, since the 4in1 now does all this for you and MORE. The country switch is kinda redundant. I doubt Console Passion will still fit country switches. What they will give you is a 50/60hz speed switch and recommend the 4in1 which really is the BEST option. Owning the 4in1 now, has made me so glad that i don't have to keep pressing the country button lever in the cart slot(1=Japan, 4=US and 0=PAL) everytime I to play a game from a different region from the last one.
Console Passion are great and very honest and loyal sellers that have never mucked me around in the past so I highly recommend them. Check the Saturn shop links, you'll find them there. However, shop around you may find those deals cheaper but there is no guarantee that other companies may have such a good track record.

Oh. You didn't mean a modchip that changed region. Aye.
I have an ST-Key. It raped the port in my Saturn. :/ Cartridges barely work in it now. Avoid the ST-Key at all costs. I do like my Action Replay much more, and having to press A twice after you power on to load the game doesn't bother me one bit.
Besides, it's fun having invicinbility on In The Hunt and crashing your submarine into everything to destroy everything, then screaming "SUBMARINE SMASH!! SUBMARINE ANGRY!!"
Even better is that the end of the game says that the Submarine, not the pilot, is the new ruler of the world. (Be sure to get the English version)
HILARIOUS. Definitely worth owning the 4-in-1 to see. ;D Do it in front of the friends. They'll laugh! And if you're lucky like me, a great inside joke will come out of it.
