My friend has been having this same problem with his saturn that I am and always hoped I'd never have to face. Some but not most games will do this. In praticular dragon force and shining force. The game loads, the game plays, a different amount of time passes each time untill all of the sudden im back to the load cd menu of the saturn with the space ship and such. This dosent happen with just about any other game I have just these two. Anyone else ever have this problem or know how to fix this problem. Its nothing stupid like the battery. Dates, times, and save files all in tack. I sport a action replay 4mb in the mem card slot but if that was causing the problem I would think my friend would be free of this specific problem seeing as how he dosent have one. Any help would be great! Peace!
P.S. I might have lied thier is one other game that this happens to from time to time which is Dracula X. I just thought that was the action replay because it being an import and all up untill this happened. Not a new problem has always happened with these games in praticular and are in flawless condition.

sounds like some sort or read error, but I cant think why you would only be getting it with those games...
If it was happening all the time I'd go for a problem with the lid sensor...

Yeah I just tested the horde galatic attack panzer dragoon. All error free. And the disc error thing it actualy says disc read error every time I try to fight a certin guy in shining force three. It pops up on the screen in white text. So fustrating especially sense I just got dragonfoce and what I was able to play was most amazing!

Your laser is getting old I'd say. I've got 1 Saturn that will boot most games 100% of the time, no problems. But for some reason it struggles with Lunar 2. Sometimes it won't even recognize the disc, others times it does what you describe. I fixed it by tweaking the laser's voltage pot a bit, but when you have to do that, your laser is showing it's age.

You have to try to disassemble your sega saturn, clean it inside...clean the laser lens...reconect the flat cable...and try to check the region jumpers in the back of the saturn motherboard , You should check and try to make a laser adjust in the yellow trimpot...this should work!
