Good Morning and Happy New year!
I have a PAL Saturn, region modded and i'm getting only composite picture on my TV with the SCART lead provided. Having recently upgraded the AV cable for my gamecube, I know for sure that my TV is RGB capable.
I decided to replace my Saturn cable in hope to get the nicer RGB picture.
Can anyone recommend me an Online shop / Ebay seller selling genuine and good quality SCART RGB cable for a PAL saturn in UK?
Thanks!
Pierre

Also be 100% sure you are plugging them into the same port, most TVs only have one RGB scart socket and one or two S-Video/Composite ones.

i use a European RGB-scart cable for my Saturn on a HD-TV. The picture is great. I only recomend a RGB-cable for great picture viewing.

Just a follow up on this thread...I've also got one of the Scart RGB cables from Rob at Consolegoods and have it plugged into my PAL Saturn and going into the Scart connector in my Toshiba HDTV. The picture is sharp and clear but also quite blocky (not really a problem, just noticed it). Is this normal?
I've been reading the stickied thread regarding RGB/Component etc and wondered if because the Saturn outputs 240p that the HDTV can't really handle it and does the best it can.
Is there a way to verify I actually do have an RGB Scart cable?
I'll see if I can get a decent photo.

The Saturn was designed for standard CRT TV's so it's gonna look pretty blocky on a HDTV bigger than around 24-26 inches. I used to play my Saturn on a 19 inch HDTV and it looked great. When I would play it on a friend's 28 inch it looked terrible.

Really? I currently play my Saturn on my 32inch hdtv with an RGB cable and I think it looks better than it has ever looked b4. Games like Winter Heat and Bulk Slash look absolutely amazing. VF2 looks better than it ever did b4 on my CRT. Maybe your friend had a standard scart and not the RGB one.

Saturn gaming on a 42" plasma here, looks awesome about 80% of the time depending on the game.

It's a 37" Toshiba 37XV505D: www.hdtvtest.co.uk/Toshiba-37XV505D/I've been reading the manual to see if there are settings to try (e.g AV2 can be set to AV or S-Video), will have a go over the weekend. I did sell my 32" Panasonic CRT tv last month which is what I used to have but I don't remember the quality being any better that the HDTV...maybe I just don't remember what the quality was like back in the day!

I personally think 244p and other such resolutions look like crap upscaled on almost any screen.
Saturn in RGB on a native res capable CRT with perfect geometry looks better than it looks on any fixed pixel display yet.

You usually have to use AV1 with an RGB cable - else it will step down to composite.

Crisp, sharp and no pixelation. I played a few others and it seemed to up the quality a lot. I take it that this is quite a well known fact re: AV1 and AV2 inputs on TVs?

It is well known, however quite a few TVs do/did have RGB on both SCART sockets, my old B&O CRT had RGB on both.
