Hi all
New to the boards, so I thought I'd introduce myself
I finally got round to buying an import Sega Saturn last week. Been meaning to buy one of the Japanese systems for many years, and finally decided to plump for a standard white model after my PAL Saturn finally packed in
If truth be told, I never really got into buying PAL Saturn games often, owing to the poor condition of the ones I would get on eBay, and the fact that I wasn't too keen on the boxes (sounds daft but anyway ). I loved the system though and the playability of the games I had, but always held back on it and said I'd buy an import model some day and buy games seriously for that - which is what I've now done ;D Japanese games are normally in better condition than Western ones I find, and Japanese Saturn cases are very nice with much better artwork.
Anyway, I had a limited budget for software initially, and just got Layer Section, Sega Touring Cars, Fighters Megamix and Virtua Fighter Remix.
Today I bought some more titles: Virtua Fighter 2, Fighting Vipers, Street Fighter Zero and X-Men Vs Street Fighter - yes I love my fighting games! (I own a Neo Geo AES as well)
I also bought Japanese copies of Daytona USA and Sega Rally - these were very cheap and were bought to replace my PAL versions. I picked up Shotokuo Racer or Drift Racer 97 I think its called... never heard of it before, but its an arcade racer and I love those, plus the graphics look very good on YouTube so hopefully it will be a good purchase.
Lastly, I impulse bought Shining Force Wisdom - it was cheap as chips (most of these games were) and it again looks good on the 'Tube, so into the basket it went ;D Don't know how I will get on with it though as its naturally in Japanese, but I'm sure I'll get some enjoyment out of it.
I have a few more titles I want to pick up like Panzer Dragoon Zwei, Vampire Savior, Last Bronx and a replacement copy of Manx TT Superbikes. Might get NiGHTS too, though there's a few titles I may hold off buying until I get sorted out to play English language Saturn games once again.
The real reason I bought the Japanese Saturn is, surprise surprise, the 2D shooters. As you can see I only have one purchased, Layer Section. The next ones I will be buying are Dodonpachi and its prequel and Souky.... I won't attempt to spell it! Looking to pick up the mighty Radiant Silvergun at some point in the not to distant future - cannot wait to play this as Ikaruga is in my Top 10 videogames of all time.
Battle Garegga, Thunderforce V and Kingdom Grand Prix are definate purchases too at some time later in the year. Should hopefully have a nice little collection of Saturn games by the end of the year and I'll be sure to tell you guys all abou it on here
So, as I type this the wait for my Saturn is hopefully nearing its end, having bought it last week from Hit-Japan, who is normally super-quick at shipping. I'm expecting it Friday - fingers crossed it arrives!
Anyway, thats a little about me and Saturn, hope it wasn't too long. Hope to talk to everyone on the boards soon
