Lately I've been using RarityGuide.com as a, well, guide for my Saturn shopping. I've found it's pretty reliable; generally I figure that I should look to pay about 20% less than what the guide lists for the game.
So, I'm shopping for Rayman. I check RarityGuide.com... It says $25 for a copy complete in box. Goodie, I say; I should be able to find a copy for about $20.
I've now been watching Ebay for months, and I have yet to see a copy with a starting bid of less than $35. And some of these are copies that the seller openly admits are badly scratched up and/or haven't been play tested!
Have I just been having a streak of bad luck, or should I give up on getting Rayman for a reasonable price?

I wouldn't really trust RarityGuide.com They tend to be hit or miss on a lot of stuff. I'd say a more accurate name for that site is PopularityGuide. While some games they have marked are truly rare other ones are laughable.
For example, they have Sonic 3D Blast, a very common game that can be found and acquired for under $10 on ebay as being as rare as Christmas NiGHTS, Working Designs games, and a so on and so forth. And I really laugh at Megaman 8 when I see it on that site. According to Rarity Guide Megaman 8 on the Saturn is rarer than Panzer Dragoon Saga and Winning Post, yet when I got my copy complete for $20 it was all over ebay with prices ranging from $20-$50.

I think you got lucky with Mega Man 8. It took me months to find that one, and I ended up paying about $30 for a copy without box or manual.

I think you got lucky with Mega Man 8. It took me months to find that one, and I ended up paying about $30 for a copy without box or manual. When I bought it less than 2 years ago Ebay was full of fully boxed complete copies of the game, ranging from $20-$50. The game is no where near as rare as RarityGuide tries to claim it is. RarityGuide in general is just full of crap for the most part. I remember when the guy was just starting it up and was advertising it on the Sega Forums. I pointed out how some games were completely wrong in their rarity figures and his response was pretty much "But they sell for a lot on ebay, therefore they are rare." Don't trust that guide as far as you can throw it.

Oh yeah, that one... I did see that one, but the fact that the disc is all scuffed up and hasn't been play tested doesn't make me enthusiastic. If the seller had something else I wanted, I'd have given it a try, but I already had most of the Saturn games he had for sale. Plus someone else had already bid on it. I'll keep watching, though. Thanks for the advice!
