Last night I completed Nights! Maybe this isn't a big deal to everyone as it may be rather easy but it took me 15 (give or take a year) years to do it. Nights is a game I purchased upon release and just never really got into it. Sure it was nice to look at and it got praise from the critics but it never really did much for me. So it sat and it sat. About a month ago I got the 3d controller and tried it on a few games including Nights and was unimpressed. I shared these thoughts in another thread. Now I have to eat crow. As I continued to try the 3d controller on Nights I noticed my high scores kept creeping up sometimes doubling or tripling what I had accomplished over the years with the standard controller. I noticed that looping was razor sharp with the 3d controller too. It was less work and I was actually able to focus on the beauty of this game. This game has now captivated me. Incredible depth of story and great control. It really brings back memories of playing Sonic 1 and 2. Then the other night I actually made it to Wizeman. I've never even come close with the standard controller. And last night I defeated him. I feel a sense of accomplishment and also a sense of sadness as I really wish this game would not end.

Yeah, the game is all too short. Congrats on finally making it through, though!

I've played this game on many occasions through the years and I just don't get it! I've got no idea what I'm supposed to be doing (I hate have to read instruction booklets!) and feel totally unfulfilled every time I play it. I do notice a big difference in the gameplay when using the 3D pad though.
I can live without completing even the first level of this one!

I can live without completing even the first level of this one! There is no "first" level. Whenever you start up a game you choose to play as either Claris or Elliot, who have two completely different sets of levels(aside from the last level, which is the same for both characters).

What's more fun: Not understanding the game and passing it up, or understanding it for a lifetime after a 5 minute read?

Eh? All I was just trying to do was give reasoning so you won't miss out on what could be a gem in your eyes if given a bit more time to learn the system. I mean, as an example, I've got plenty of Japanese games that I can't understand a single word of and at first play I can't get into them at all. However, looking at a guide helps me become familiar with how the game works and what option does what. Taking the few minutes to learn has given me hours and hours of awesome fun! Chaos Seed was ludicrous without any knowledge of Japanese, but my goodness, what a great game once you look at a guide! And Coin Puzzle Moujiya was just impossible until I took the time to learn the currency of Yen. The initial learning process may be a pain, but once you learn you open yourself up to so many new titles, and it keeps your Saturn (or any system for that matter) refreshing! Judging by the tone of your post, you were trying to pass me off as one of those rowdy fanboys who go nuts when people don't like the same stuff. Maybe because you were too embarrassed to answer back? I dunno. Either way, I'm not trying to argue with you. You don't even have to give me an answer if you feel uncomfortable. I'm just trying to give helpful advice to better your gaming experience. 'Tis all.

(I hate have to read instruction booklets!) I don't want to sound like a complete arse hole, but unless you're either illiterate or a fat headed 12 year old there's really no excuse for that. Whack in a game and play straight away by all means, but if you're having trouble understanding it pick up the manual, don't spit your dummy out and declare a game to be worthless because YOU CHOOSE to ignore the manual, that's completely your fault not any failing on the game's part.

I'm neither illiterate or a fat headed 12 year old. Pretty disappointing for a site owner to come out with a statement like that.
I don't doubt the game is a good game. Far too many folk saying how good it is for it not to be. It's just not my cup of tea. maybe it's the dry Scottish sense of humour you guys don't get, but I'm astounded at the reaction to a jokey comment about not reading the instructions!!!

I'm neither illiterate or a fat headed 12 year old. I never said you were did I, hence the word 'unless' Pretty disappointing for someone to write off one of the best games Sega ever made for want of investing 5 minuets to read the manual. Anyway no offence was meant, and perhaps yes you're statement was taken a little bit more literally by people than you intended, that's kind of the thing about reading text on a screen, there's generally no tone to it
