I just about bid on an auction for Shining Wisdom at a decent price compared to what it normally goes for. However, I bid too late and find I wish I had bid on it earlier now. Having never played it, I don't know what to expect. I've read a few reviews, which make it sound average.
What are people's opinions of Shining Wisdom?

I bought it for £30 (The most I've spent on a Saturn game), played it once for about 30 minutes... that's it. That was back in May of last year, I haven't touched it since. I think though if you are a fan of RPG's (Which I'm not, really) you will probably like it. It's more intuitive than other RPG's I've played, but I didn't play it enough to get a proper feel for it.
I have heard on these boards and elsewhere that it's the weaker game in the series. How much did it sell for in the end?

I didn't like this... hated the fact you had to mash the button to build up running speed

Its a good game, but I wouldn't recommend paying tons of money for it.
Its like a standard SNES top down adventure game, think Zelda or Illusion of Gaia, but its not quite up to the standard of those game.
You basically walk around fighting monsters and doing puzzles in dungeons to collect items which give you new abilities allowing you to open up new areas, you also get the usual villages filled with people to talk to.
The worst aspects are the graphics and the controls, both of which are caused by the game's Mega Drive heritage (originally it was set to be released on MD but was moved over to Saturn at the last second) graphically it looks like a mid level Mega Drive game (there's actually some MD adventure games with better graphics out there) and the controls only use 3 buttons (like the original MD pad) which is often a pain in the ass as you constantly have to press the start button
