I mainly bought my Japanese Saturn to get this game but I did not realise how rare it was. What kind of price should I be paying for it?
Also I have noticed there are some that come wiht 4mb ram, does the game need this? Does it just play better with it? Should I be looking for that version or just buy the one without?

Yes you need a 4MB cart to play the gane. As for price, I paid £74 including shipping for the version with the cart which isn't too bad as a lot of people will try & flog it for no less than £100.

I paid around $75 for my copy that was the individual release without the RAM cart.

I kinda got lucky in that I picked up the RAM cart version, in mint condition, for £46. Prior to that however, I had been outbid on two auctions where the game went for £70 to £80.
£80 is the max I would pay for the RAM cart version. If you get it for less than £70 you doing alright I reckon.

Keep your eyes peeled for a cheaper deal, there is a no-cart version on ebay just now for 49 GBP, although unless you have the cart you'll have to go get one! But I'm assuming you have played SFZ3... so it's up to you whether you think the extremley slight advantages over the other versions are worth that kind of money. But if you can pick up something that is 90% identical for 10% of the price... why bother

I've been thinking of picking up SFA3. I have the Dreamcast version and i love it. Does it work with any 4M RAM cart?

The Dreamcast version is not really supposed to be the exact same game, it's an update called 'Upper' in Japan I believe but Capcom America, like the terrible piece of shit they are, decided to replace the altered logo with the original.

Dreamcast SFA3 is not Upper. Upper came years later. The problem with the Dreamcast port is when Capcom upscaled the game for 480p they didn't upscale the Hitboxes with it. As a result the game plays somewhat awkwardly, and they nerfed V-ism.

Yeah I saw you can get the Dreamcast version a lot cheaper and I have a multi region DC but the problem is the pad. I don't have an arcade stick for either console and the Saturn pad is perfect for Street Fighter... well as good as you can get without an arcade stick.

Its worth EVERY penny! BUY IT NOW! However, if you already have a cart then obviously shop around for a deal without one. There are many floating around just be patient. In my opinion its the best Saturn import gamer avaliable. However I enjoy it to immensely because I'm a capcom fanatic. If you are still trying to figure out SFA2 and haven't yet exhausted all possibilities on that game then you can afford to wait for a while. SFZ3 in my opinion is purely for purely for experts or the advanced gamer!

But regardless, it's still an update of the game rather than a direct port. If you want the most up to date version of SFZ3 you're probably better off getting the PS2 version on the Alpha collection though right? Or was it the PSP port, I forget which one was the 'newest'. If you are playing the game for enjoyment rather than that imaginary tournament you might enter one day in lala land with your imaginary street fighter playing friends, go for whatever version, if not... then go for whichever version one of the above SF nerds recommends most. No offense

What is drawn on the screen does not represent what goes on in the background in the coding. The coding is still for the original resolution, only the game is printed larger. If the hitboxes are off, it's probably because of some dummies who can't code.

When you play the game on a TV without a VGA box the video output is still '240p' so the output is being scaled back down - or at least my CRT is most certainly displaying 240 resolution or there abouts, as scanlines become visible and line twitter dissapears when playing SFZ3 Saikyo Dojo. Perhaps something happened if Capcom actually changed the proportions of the sprites during the process it would result in a mis-representation of what the hit boxes are doing. It could be down to dummies who can't scale stuff as well as dummies who can't program But generally I find it on the Dreamcast to be a really enjoyable game. Anyone who loses and cries because of hit boxes is justpassing the buck for their own failure
