Hi I have a PAL model 2 saturn had it for many many years. It's been very well looked after but sometimes when I want to have a game I will power it up and it will either freeze up or the screen will go black.
Is there anything I can do to repair it or is all hope lost and I will have to get a new saturn?
Hope you guys can help

This has been happening to mine lately. The start up animation will freeze, or the screen will go black when loading a disc from the main screen. Hasn't done it in a little while but it's annoying.

Are you familiar with the inside of your Saturn at all? Ever opened it?

Are you familiar with the inside of your Saturn at all? Ever opened it? I do open it and know my way round it. I just try and keep it well maintained. But at the moment it just a constant struggle to play games on it at all.

1. Unscrew all the screws underneath.
2. Turn Saturn right way up and gently lift off top.
3. Towards the center rear left area of the Saturn there is a bit poking up with a clear piece of plastic, if you pinch it with your fingers you will see it is a switch.
(this switch tells your Saturn if it's door is open or closed)
4. Using either electrical tape or a plastic cable tie, permenantly secure the switch in the pinched togeather possition.
5. Put your Saturn back togeather, whack a game in and see what happens.
Note: this is not intended as a permanent fix, but will diagnose wheather a faulty door switch is an issue.

As long as you're not too bothered about having a working door switch it should be fine for a while
