Sadly none of the equipment I have seems to give me any resolution info when running through RGB SCART, I have a very old Umatic deck that gives you a reading of how many TV lines are being input to it, not sure how much help that would be...

Humbug are you running your XRGB-3 in B0 or B1 mode? If you can find NTSC versions of all your favourite games, then really all you have to worry about is 240p games Vs Interlace games (like Virtua Fighter 2).

im running B0 mode normaly but I can run B1 if need be.
I've been told I can run the picture in picture function through the USB connection to capture origional resolution, but i havn't looked into that much yet. I'm not too sure how I'm going to measure frame rate too. would it be possible to measure the freaquency of the sync line? would that tell me anything?

B0 mode is kinda dated unless you want to run interlace games like Virtua Fighter 2. B1 mode is usually a better bet for most Saturn games, though it depends on your display. Most modern HDTV's won't work in B0 mode in any useful way but it can work nicely on monitors (LCD obviously, no point using B0 on a CRT after all), but that aside to measure frame rate? Hmm, a 60fps camera perhaps?
