I've been thinking of getting Saturn Bomberman for a while now. Every time I've checked ebay its around $70. Is this the typical going price for it? I've looked into getting the Japanese version but the fact that all the menus are in Japanese is what's turning me away, as I feel I wouldn't be able to know what everything means and therefore wouldn't really be able to enjoy the game to it's fullest.
My question is should I just pay the $70 as I can afford that, or should I hold off for a better deal?

I got the PAL version off ebay through the post yesterday, no manual £9.50 with quite a few bids on it- I got lucky there, didnt want to pay over a tenner really.

I have the Japanese version and not being able to read the menus doesn't bother me at all.
Besides, someone posted screenshots to all the English menus on here in the past anyways that you can check out for reference. (I'd have to find the post again, it was very early in the forum's life) The only thing you'd miss though is the story dialog, you know, the cheesy things said by the scientist dude/voice acting.
$10 for a full game you can play with very minimal menu guessing/asking a friend to take screenshots of their screens, or $70 for the same game and menus you only need to read what they say once to remember which option is which.

Well with buying the PAL version my Saturn can only play US and Japanese games. When I had it modded I didn't think there were any PAL exclusives that really interested me. With the Japanese version, I could probably be able to figure out the menus through screen shots, but I play my Saturn with friends a lot of the time, sometimes they are playing it when I'm not in the room or if I'm doing something else, I can see Japanese menus being a big problem with that.
It really depends on how many different settings there are in game modes.

It is sick to see that also a disc only version goes for 50,-$ on ebay.com... I bought a working disc only of the US-version some years ago. Since I also own the PAL-version I don't need it really... It has not really collectors value to me so I would sell it to you if you are interested we can bargain over it via pm.

Well I've looked around ebay and it appears the Japanese version after shipping will cost around $35-$50. I don't really trust Airmail.
I appreciate the disc only offer, but I'd prefer to have a complete copy really. So it looks like I have the choice between paying for the US version, or saving about $20-$30 and dealing with Japanese menus. I'll probably think on this for a bit.

I had never problems with airmail... I ordered from japan, south korea and hong kong and it was always very reliable. If you have some soldering skills you can still do the PAL/JAP/USA region mod on your saturn.

i got mine i believe for 25 pounds. I don't see 30-40 quid game as expensive. I'd happily pay an extra ten for an ace game.

My question is should I just pay the $70 as I can afford that, or should I hold off for a better deal? $70 sounds like a great deal (about £35-40, right?) so long as you play it enough. Do you have people to play the game with or will you be playing 1 player all the time? If the former, then YES, it's worth every penny. I've had countless matches through the years, and even non-gamers have picked up and played with me, and it still isn't getting old. If the latter then you should consider the Japanese version. It's cheaper and the Japanese dialog won't harm too much as you won't be playing Battle mode (multiplayer) often, but you'll find it near impossible to play, and you won't get what's going on in the main story mode (although it's not really that important). Overall, the game really is worth playing in some form or another.

Saturn bomberman is a reason to get a saturn!
Most players are probably aware of the two extra characters you can access in multiplayer, but most people don't know about the stage alterations! When your selecting your stage for a multiplayer map, hold XYZ together and press up or down on the digital pad. You change the time of day (dawn, noon, dusk, night) to alter the maps with more goodies (extra conveyor belts, arrows, warp pads, ect).
If you like the 10-player map, you might even find a fun...guest?
