Sorry if this question has been asked before.
I bought myself a new Saturn, since my old one hadn't been working to well. I've been having the issue where my system erases my save file even with a new battery, as I posted earlier, sadly, and I don't know how to fix it (if you have a suggestion, please let me know). Other than that though, it's been working fine.
Unfortunately I've been having an issue with Fighters Megamix. As soon as I select a game mode, character, and course, it crashes and loads the game as an audio disk. I've heard of similar things happening like this before, but never this precise (it happens EVERY time at the same exact moment, without fail). I tried resurfacing it, and had no luck. Does this mean there's nothing left I can do to save it?
Thanks in advance for any help.

Is this happening with any other games?

are there any marks on the silver side of the disk? While the resurfaced would remove marks on the bottom, if the data has been corroded or damaged that could be an issue but then again I doubt it since most games didnt even use half the space on disks.
Perhaps its just a bad copy?

I had this with Sega Rally. When i unlock the Stratos (with sweaty hands ) the game crashes, really frustrating On the top side of the disk i noticed a scratch. I bought a new copy. This copy plays flawless I think some data has been damage.

This copy plays flawless I think some data has been damage. On the top there are actually quite a few scratches, but I presumed it wouldn't effect the gameplay. I ended up ordering another copy off Play-Asia, so hopefully I'll have better luck with this one. To answer Mick's question, it's only happening with Megamix currently. It happened with Need for Speed and Andretti Racing, but a resurface fixed them, and now they work flawlessly. As for the battery issue, I'm finding that it's only erasing my save data when I change disks. This gives me a chance to back up my data on my Action Replay, but it's still a bit irritating. Has anyone else had this issue?

I had a crashing issue with NiGHTS and Virtua Fighter 2. With NiGHTS it was because I had 2 A Life files and it didn't know which to use so it crashed. With VF2 it was because my save file was corrupt. Once I deleted the save file it worked fine.

Are you having to set the date on startup tim? Yes, along with the time. It seems to wipe everything off the battery once I change the disk.

Sounds like a duff battery to me. Where did you buy it from? Just from the local supermarket. I know this one is full though, because I tried it on my old Saturn, and it worked fine.

Then it has to be something with your console. Do you change battery every year in you consoles ?

My next step if it were me would be to open it up, take out the motherboard and check the solder connections to the battery holder...

There's a blue switch on the motherboard that manually resets the memory, try disassembling the machine and see if there is anything that could short circuit that switch, causing it to be permanently turned on.
