I'm assuming this is the proper place to put a topic like this after looking around the forum... I'm playing a Japanese version of Deep Fear on my US Saturn using an Action Replay and I've just gotten past the first disc. But whenever I switch discs, the second disk I put in doesn't want to work. I'm assuming I have to open the disc tray, put in the second disc, and push start. If that is correct, it doesn't seem to be working for me. Both discs are 100%scratch-free, and getting through Disc 1 was no problem. Does anyone know what I can do?

You may just need to clean the laser. Out of curiosity, do you think Disc 2 has been resurfaced? If it has they may have went too far.

I was under he impression that action replay doesn't work with multi disc games? although I can't say I've tried it myself.

I think it's dependant on weather the game creates a save or not, if it creates a save file indicating the first disc has been completed then it will work, if it does a straight swap disc 1 for disc 2 with no save it doesnt.
Something like that, my memory isnt what it was.

Something like that, my memory isnt what it was. I have played through Grandia I on my USA Saturn using an Action Replay, if that helps. I didn't know that there were games where you could switch discs without using a save, though. I'm pretty sure even D creates a temporary save when you finish Disc One; the manual mentions that you need a certain number of free blocks to play the game. Which games allow you to swap discs without using a save file?

^Yes, but with Grandia, it lets you save before the disk change so when you start the next disc you just load the save to do so. I only know that because I played the Playstation version, though I assume it'd work the same on Saturn...
In any case, I'll be sure to try again and update if it works or not. Thanks so far for the advice, and I'm looking forward to see what happens when Synbios tests it out. :-)

^ Unfortunately skyrunner, that's the major flaw with using an Action Replay!! As Mick stated above, only the games that create a save before changing to the next disc avoid this pitfall. I'd seriously consider either getting yourself a modded system, or treating yourself to a Japanese Saturn - it's the only guaranteed way of getting around this problem I'm afraid. *The only other viable option, would be to get yourself a black and red set of system disks - but they're getting very hard to find these days (especially the red ones), and they'll probably set you back a small fortune too, unless you get lucky. So I'd stick to the options above if I were you.

Yes, sad to say it's true, it won't work. I did set a new personal best fastest time through Disc 1. I wish infernalcombustion would have posted a little sooner It, temporarily, kept me from finishing Shining Force Gaiden Final Conflict for the first time.

Well crap... that's not good. I might get a Japanese Saturn at some point, but I'm saving up for a 3DS now, so I suppose for now I'll have to put beating Deep Fear on the backburner. I'm not really sure how to mod my system, wouldn't want to break it since I'm not THAT technologically inclined. If someone knows of a good guide, though, I'd love to take a look at it.

Really? Rob used to ship them with a little green wire for that, been a while since I had one from him.

Mine didn't come with one and I checked the picture on the site and it was just the chip and ribbon.
The wire was easy enough to find though - I have a few broken PC's and all the wires inside are 5V - or at least work anyway!

Mine didn't come with one either but like mancity said it was easy enough to find.
On a side note, the Lost & Found Vol. 3 I have that supposedly has the NA version of Deep Fear (more like the PAL version patched) worked fine when I played it on my modded JP Saturn. Which is why I didn't think this problem was the issue at first. For those who don't know the Lost & Found Volumes are just glorified burns. I didn't pay much for mine but I wouldn't buy the others.
