What moments in the course of Saturn gaming made you want to slap yourself in the face?
I remember playing Command and Conquer, there was this one mission that started out as any other one, so naturally I thought that I just have to smash the opponent and I'll be done. After 2 hours of playing I was finally close to finishing the mission. C&C didn't provide a save feature so you had to complete the task on one go, and it often took a long time even on the fastest speed setting. Anyway, I stormed the enemy's base, and started to kill and destroy everything in sight. My army started taking down the last remaining building, and just when I though "Finally, after 2 hours, I'm done" the big sign appeared on the screen:
MISSION FAILED
(Accompanied by "Your mission is a failure" voice)
FFFFFFFFFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUUU-
I almost shat myself. I turned out, the last building I leveled was actually the one I was meant to capture. Lesson learned: always read mission descriptions.

Not Saturn related but that reminded me the time when I played GTA III for 3 hours, and when I decided it's time to make a break I just turned my PS2 off. That's when I realised I didn't save even once during that play -_-

Mine - Glancing over at my phone whilst on a potentially high-score thrashing session on Strikers 1945 II as it rang and inevitably flying straight into in-coming fire Was almost at 700,000 points on my last life!

The first time I played Panzer Dragoon, I couldn't get past the boss in Episode 3. I kept shooting the damn guy but his health would only drop marginally. I didn't know what to do, but I kept playing in hope of finding a solution to get past him. And this one time, I accidentaly held the fire button, the drago(o)n locked on an enemy an shoot a buch of homing lasers. "Holy Shit! You can do something like that? Wow that's much easier now!". Somehow, during all those hours, I was just shooting with a gun and had absolutely no idea about the second weapon. After that I checked the manual, that I didn't really read before, and, obviously, it was mentioned there.

My moment is when some noob ask an extremely common question that a search would have brought up a 100+ results ;D

When the Saturn was released. EDIT: Of course, it was a "At the time" facepalm.

Synbiosis: I think some noobs do that though because they like to hear from a person. They want the answer but they also just want to socialize. Idk, it never bothers me when this happens. I'm probably guilty of it myself.
Really tired, just want to play some Galactic Attack. I start to put it in and notice a small scratch. I could fix it, but the stuff to do so is all the way down stairs. I figure it will be fine I've played with worse conditioned disks before.
Game freezes at Area 5.
Facepalm.

OMG! XD Thats a solid one LJay. Now that I think about it I should also add the time I bought a box of about 20 genesis games at a garage sell and came home all excited for a night of genesis madness only to discover our new puppy had chewed through the av cables.

I threw out my original 32X, Gen 1 & CD1 because my buddy's dogs crapped all over it when we were at the bar. One marked it and the other 3 followed we think. Just pee & poo everywhere. I had set it by the door so I could grab it and go after the bar. It was a Sega facepalm moment.

Mine was when I was doing my every few year massive Dark Savior event where I play through the entire game, all parallels, everything. I p[lay every few years with large gaps 'cos I tend to forget a lot of what happens each time keeping it fresh.
Anyway, I was on the 4th parallels the one where you're time and have no save points. Got to the last bit and because I run so fast and take short cuts a house that's supposed to fall landed on me and I was stuck. FML.
