Hey there! I've just got an Action Replay, so I can play imports on my Saturn! I've bought a few online, but they haven't arrived yet. I was wondering... since the PAL Saturn can only output 50hz, will the games run slowly? I was also wondering about the Sega Ages collection released in Europe and America. According to Wikipedia, the games only have remixed music and the original soundtracks aren't available, but I've heard the opposite elsewhere! And does anyone know if the stand-alone Japanese releases of the games in the collection have the option to run at 60fps, like the American versions please? Thanks! ^^

Sega Ages Volume 1 in America has 30fps and 60fps - so do the Japan versions of the games on Sega Ages Volume 1.
The European version runs in 50fps with bugs caused by slowdown (You'll notice OutRun is much harder than it was originally, because the game is running slower but the clock is still running at the correct speed! - sadly switching your Saturn to run in 60Hz doesn't fix this problem and you'll notice that although the game runs at the correct speed... the clock will run too fast!)
The 'original' music isn't on any of the versions - the reason they say remixed is because the original tracks were given a clean up with some additional audio processing to make them sound a little better - the Arranged tracks however are Japan only.

Yes all NTSC games will run slower than they should and with letterboxing. You should get your system modified.

I've long since discovered that the best possible setup is having a JP, US and PAL Saturn either all set up togeather or easilly interchangable. Sounds expensive, but if you grab unboxed systems it's not too pricey and it cuts out a whole lot of messing around.

So you mean I shouldn't feel guilty by setting the difficulty to easy? You can't even crash once on normal if you want to make it to the end...

Rockman 8 and Shin Shinobi Den arrived! They do indeed run a little slowly and letterboxed, and FMVs stutter and skip. But they're still very playable, and unlike cartridge based systems, the music plays at the correct speed! And today, my Japanese versions of Space Harrier and OutRun arrived! OutRun has original and arranged music, Space Harrier only has the original soundtrack, but neither of them have an option for 30/60fps...

The option for 60 and 30fps mode is a secret option - although the cheat to access it escapes me right now.

"The 60FPS smooth mode is accomplished by: Going to Options, highlighting Game Mode, holding A + C, pressing Left or Right." Well, that works in OutRun, but I can't find info anywhere on how to get it in Space Harrier! Does anyone know, please? =3
