I have to say that I am thrilled to find a forum that is all about the Sega Saturn! Considering that the Saturn has to be one of my favorite systems, this is quite an interesting and awesome find. So, to give a little info about myself... I am from the US, so most of my games are from here (naturally). However, in the past few months, I have branched out. I bought an Action Replay 4 in 1 cart and have bought a few Japanese imports that I have been having a LOT of fun with. I am also expecting my first PAL game to come in the mail soon (A copy of Wipeout 2097 from France) and I hope that it will work well with my all NTSC set up. Sadly due to my age (I just turned 17 two weeks ago), I don't remember the Saturn during it's original run. I did however buy a Saturn a little over two years ago, with a small collection of games to go with it. The main reason why I bought a Saturn? To experience and own the Sega Saturn version of Doom. I am a huge fan of Doom, and I was quite amused to see the "lackluster" port of it that the Saturn got. I did enjoy it however, and it didn't give me a bad impression of the Sega Saturn, otherwise I wouldn't have signed up here. So all in all, I am really excited to have found a forum on the Sega Saturn! Hopefully this will be a long and enjoyable stay!

Hi there welcome to the forums, Doom is probably the very worst way to introduce anyone to the Saturn, so I'm really glad you stuck with it, there's a wealth of great titles to be had. Hope you stick around

welcome to the forum matt!! It's always good to see a new fan of the Saturn here!! Great to see that you're enjoying the import scene already - don't worry the PAL version of Wipeout 2097 works just fine on an American system with an AR cart too!! You'll probably have noticed that there isn't a great love of the Saturn version of Doom around here - but what the hell - It's nice to see someone enjoying it lol!! Anyway, there are so many excellent games available on the system I can honestly say you're in for one great roller-coaster of a ride.

Welcome mattfrie1 Yeah, Doom is disappointing but you may want to take a look at Powerslave/Exhumed and Duke Nukem

you should give the Saturn version of Quake a whirl, it isn't better per sé, but is certainly a different gaming experience from the PC version with its own unique atmosphere.

Thanks for the welcomes. Luckily I've gotten quite a few other Saturn games besides Doom (I got Sega Rally Championship, Quake and Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3 in the same day). I'll have to post the status of my ever growing collection in the Post your Saturn collection sometime tomorrow.

I enjoyed Saturn Doom. I mean sure the frame rate was just pathetic most the time but I still enjoyed it because well... its saturn. I can be biased and turn a blind eye.
