Hey all, i decided to dust off the old model 1 and have it as a permanent fixture in my living room, the last time i played it was in january and it was working fine, but to my surprise today it wasn't reading any game discs, I would put them in and it would just come up as the CD player, i tried rebooting the machine with an action replay cart and it would just hang on the loading bit of the AR, i really don't want to have to part with this saturn, could it just be a knackered laser/drive, I can get a model number off the back of it in the morning if that helps, would rather fix it and use it!

Clean it out. I had a system that hanged up when trying to boot any code, and it was caused just by the amount of dust inside it.

You tried cleaning the eye of the laser with cotton bud with a bit alcohol?

Tried my CD lens cleaner disc on it today to no avail, so gonna get some isopropranol alcohol tommorow and try that! if that fails i'll open her up, i refuse to lose this saturn because the model 1 is so much nicer then the model 2!

Clean the motherboard under the heatsink too, not just the cd lens.
