So today I was at a garage sale. I found a Saturn for $10 with about 9 games (Great deal btw) But when I got home, the drive didnt spin at all. At first I thought it was a problem with the laser assembly, so to test my theory, I tried taking apart my existing Saturn (that worked) and plugging that laser assembly into the broken one. To my dismay, It didn't work. So I thought that I was screwed so I just put the 2 of them back together, and forgot about it.
But now today, after I tried starting up Virtua Fighter 2, not only will my Saturn (that was working) not spin the disk, but now there is a very annoying buzzing noise that is coming out of the speakers in my TV.
At first I thought it was a Power issue. So I took my Saturn apart, took my broken Saturn apart. Tried swapping the power supplies and I still got a buzzing noise. But when I tried the power supply from the Saturn that is buzzing, in the broken one, it worked just fine.
So what is the issue here?
I can no longer play my Saturn games, and now m one that was working is broken?
Can someone please help me?

Also (interestingly enough) the buzzing stops for a breif second right as the Saturn logo comes on the screen

Have you tried different video connectors? Scart connectors are notorious for being noisy.

Unfortunately I can't help you but if something electronic starts making buzzing noises I'd be somewhat cautious. I have no idea what it could be but I'd assume it's either the power supply. maybe some moving part like the laser or try the video connectors as mentioned.

A somewhat flaky video connection is all I can think of.

Well guys I found out what my issue was, and I will tell everyone else in case anyone has this issue. It turns out the ribbon cord from the laser assembly to the Saturn was faulty. And when I took the broken one apart, I accidentally swapped the broken one, and put the one that worked in my broken Saturn. And the reason why (I am assuming from other problems I have read on this forum) is because the Saturn could not recognize the laser assembly. After I put the working ribbon cable back in my working Saturn, the noise went away, and my Saturn could read disks again

Awesome!
Now find yourself a good ribbon cable!
