OK, then it might just not get proper signal then... Anyway, it's easy to confirm if it's really the laser being the problem. Swap the laser between your two sanyo models, and see if the machine reads discs that way.

My PAL Saturn model 1. I didn't find the serial on the list The mainboard has 873-11892-01:PAL printed on it. I dont know What kind of VA version it is.

It's a VA1, but the VA numbers or even text was never printed on those boards - they are present in the serial, and on the controller board, however.

Didn't see mine on that list, here it is, it's a PAL model 2 with a VA9 motherboard. EDIT: Let me know if you need motherboard shots too.

Wukachop: Does that machine have a 171-7291B motherboard inside?

It does indeed, if you want a photo it'll have to wait until tomorrow though Also, can you tell me how to find out what year my Saturn was released? Or even pin it down to the month? I know it's mildly late but I'm interested as to what year it was.

So you confirm that it's 171-7291B, and not C? If so, would you sell that machine cheap? It's a minor revision of a board that I don't have (hate it when those turn up when you think you finally have all of them).
I don't think it's possible to check when it was released, but you can check when it was made - there should be a manufacturing ID stamp on the motherboard. Some early models only have a date stamped with ink, but most units, including yours, have a little sticker. Yours should read something like AD67210000A1: AD is the manufacturer code, followed by year (1996), followed by month (7th month), followed by day of the month (21th), followed by misc notes probably related to the assembly line or something else I have no idea of.
(and yeah, I'm building a DB of those manufacturing lines too)

Zyrobs, I'd happily swap if you've got a duplicate Saturn, but it can't be this month just due to family commitments and whatnot, I won't be at home much so I won't be having the time to post it, if it can't be a swap then I'll have to sort something out with you for a later date. But bottom line is, yes, this Saturn will end up being yours one day, I'll get you a motherboard shot when I'm at home with my camera.

I was actually thinking of buying that HK Saturn and then it suddenly disappeared from the shop. Well, at least I know that it is in good hands. Thanks for the serials as usual.
