The US Sega Saturn I'm looking at purchasing only runs games when placed on its side, does anyone understand why that is, I'm currently researching a little more into it.
Thanks for any help

I remember back in the late 90's someone had a playstation which he had to do the samething... my guess would be something to do with the laser. I can't really be sure or give any other issues im afraid but i cant imagine other parts making it not work because it's horizontal.

I was just wondering, someone is selling one. I was going to place those guts into my white japanese case, as it would be easier than buying a new japanese saturn.

Derby Saturns use the absolute last gen Saturn motherboard, and those are more rare outside of skeleton boxes than inside. However the motherboard shape SHOULD be the same as the previous 7 hardware revisions, unless they added an extra hole somewhere... in theory, any late-model Saturn should have the same box and you could swap the parts out easily. But, first you'd bet better off blowing out dust, cleaning the parts with alcohol, and if it still doesn't work, exchange parts one by one first - maybe it's just one specific component being broken.
