Hey guys, I have the opportunity to buy a new white Taiwanese Saturn, but Taiwan uses 220v and I'm in the US. Do step down converters work well enough for this to be a good buy for me, or are they a pain? I have no experience with them. I'm also a bit confused as to whether I'd be using step down or step up. Thanks!

It will be a step up convertor as you need to increase the output voltage to power the console.
They work without any hassle (assuming it isn't defective) but personally I prefer to avoid such devices because I have enough clutter as it is behind my TV.

Thanks! Would converting the unit for US power be as simple as just opening it up and taking a power supply from a US or JP Saturn and putting that in the other one's place?

Yep, that's what I did with my Dreamcast. There are a few internal Saturn hardware revisions though, hopefully someone can post with some more specific advise relating to this

Oh okay neat - if anyone could help me with that it'd be great. I have a power supply from a Japanese model 2 available.
