Just curious if anyone have any thoughts on these ideas: -Making a switch for the action replay to deactivate it, and activate it while still inserted in the saturn. This could help keep from more damage to your cart port from insertion and desertion. heres a link to the pinout (scroll down): www.rockin-b.de/saturn/cartridgeport/SATURN-CartridgePort.htm#3Id need some input on which 5V lines to cut, theres 3 or 4 of 'em, then simply riging them to a switch. -Making any kind of fix to eleviate the sound static randomly generated in Xmen and Marvel vs street fighter. Thanks for any input.

Seems like a pointless mod to me. Nothing is stopping you from playing non-import games with it in. But that's just me, they don't call me Miserable McKilljoy for nothin round these parts.

The light guns aren't recognized in the menu, if I remember it runs through the menu like crazy, thinks your constantly holding down. Really annoying to have to swap controllers just to get passed the menu, I just unplug the cart. But this could lead to the cartridge slot failing obviously. Also unsure of any problems with the menu and the arcade wheel or the flight stick (both soon to be in my collection )

You'd be better off doing a region switch.

I also did the region switch mod just because I hated having to flip through the menus every single time I wanted to play a game, no matter the region of the game. I never even thought abou tthe light gun issue (don't have one).

I noticed this light gun issue last night!
Pain in the arse to have to keep un-plugging pad and gun etc, but id rather do that than touch the Action Replay cart.
Off topic, but also annoying is how you cannot calibrate the gun on Die Hard Trilogy!

If you want to play import games, You need to block that little strip of data, that is read by the saturn to determine what region system it plays on. I was thinking of those protective, disc covers ( the orange strips ), since the strip blocks the edge. However something like that but a little more inwards.
U can allways unscrew the Saturn, and fool it into playing an non-readable region game. The only good mod I could think of, is reprogramming the bios, by inserting a disc if that is possible.
On the gcn this is done but the GCN does not have all the font set, so the letters look garbled

That "little strip of data" is something like 2 sectors total, so you can't exactly just cover it on the cd. And it's the same data that tells the Saturn that this disc is a saturn game, so you really don't want to blank out that area.

Yea. If that was the case, all CD-Rs would work without a modchip since they all lack that strip of data anyways.

You are confusing the region code with the security ring(s).

Hm?
Oh! Oh yea. Either way, good luck taping over that one value! (Which would just register to the Saturn as a currupt game anyways even if you did have magical hands and found the perfect spot, would it not?)

Blocking off ANY of the info on the protection ring will simply make the Saturn either read it as an audio CD or not at all.

Sorry for the double post, forgot how to quote. ;D Panzer dragoon zwei and saga both MAKE you remove the cart to play(probably the first game, but honestly havent tried). I use the saturn region patcher to eleviate the import problem, and to this day of post, havent had a lick of trouble with the region being the problem. Really only use the cart for cotton 2 and the street fighter series. ;DBut making it have a permanant home on my console would be nice. I digress, Im also thinking of switching the lead inside the saturn. This may be easier, and I may be able to hide the switch inside the battery compartment. Another night of gawking at the insides of my saturn with a soldering iron looming above.

www.geocities.jp/atx197/Ssmn052S1_10.pdfFound this today... Its the schematic for the saturn. Its all in japanease, but it lays out the cartridge port on the second page. May be more difficult than intended.
