It's fine for playing Daytona, Hang On GP and F1 Challenge. It's crap for everything else, especially Sega Rally. It's not good for Manx TT, best using the 3D controller for that game.

I like it for Hang On as well. In fact, the game is awful with any other controller but pretty good with the wheel.

What about the dimensions of the wheel ? I've heard that this is quite big and bulky thing, and i was wondering how much space do i need for storing that thing in my room.

I have two & I think they're great for Sega Rally but nothing else... maybe Daytona too but that's it. they are great for the original daytona game

I beat Daytona CCE with it as well as the original. Haven't played CE to completion but it works fine with it. I also like it for Sega Rally.

Had anyone tried opening it up yet and seeing if you could "fix" the sloppy control. A local game store has one for $25 that I'm thinking about getting.

Thanks for the photo! It looks like it is not that much bulky. I was wondering... Is 3d pad a good replacement for the wheel ? I only have sega model 2 pad for my saturn and when i play sega rally or daytona usa i think i am missing something when controlling a car, and what i am missing is an analogue steering.

The 3D Nights Pad will only support the digital side, as in the D-pad for Daytona USA (1995) and Sega Rally. A wheel is the only way to get analog controls with these two games. Daytona USA CCE however does support the 3D pad properly. The wheel is all about pin point precision and holding that perfect line around large corners, Sega AGES OutRun is a great example of that when used. The 3D Pad running the same game your find it a little more twitchy to control in tight gaps like passing cars on a corner. OutRun and the wheel is superb and just like the arcade machine. OutRun and the 3D Pad is very cool and perfectly playable, but best of all it's great for when your feeling lazy and can't be bothered to plug the wheel in to play it. The wheel is also fine with ManxTT if you set it up more like a bike. You can tilt and lock the wheel so it points upwards and then you pull and push the steering, just like riding a bike. It's easier to bond with this way. The only way to play Sega Touring Cars is with an analog controller, as in a Wheel or 3D pad. It's not the smoothest racing game on the Saturn either and suffers with frame rate issues, but it is one that will be a nightmare to play if all you have is a normal control pad. I mostly use a normal controller and 3D pad if I'm honest which might be the best way to go. Look at the wheel as more of a luxury item as it may spend more time collecting dust than rather being used... If I recall correct Need for Speed & F1 Challenge also make use of the wheel.

It rarely happens but MIK isn't quite right. The 3d/ Analogue pad does work with Sega Rally for steering. The only downside is that you have to use the d-pad or buttons, not the L and R triggers to change gears which is a bit fiddly.

The down side exists because the 3D pad is using the Steering Wheel code. It just means your brave if you use a 3D pad to play Sega Rally.

As a lad I recall the wheel working well with the Need for Speed. Wouldn't mind trying one again but even back then I remember well the wheel loosening up pretty rapidly so can only fear for them in the present.
