There are some very rare, exceptional circumstances where having a true NTSC signal is preferable to a PAL60 one, but those are few and far between. However the NTSC consoles also have the option to output pure sync which works better on some equipment and TV's, it's hard to find a SCART cable that you can mod for this however. I was lucky enough to find a badly wired PAL cable that I could swap around. I was trying to negotiate to get some made up but it looks like it's fallen through.

It's relatively simple to mod a pal console to output sync. All the connections are there, even the resistor on the line and the coupling cap - it's just not wired into the a/v connector.

Easy for someone like you, not so much for me

Desolder and remove the cap marked CE58, then connect the sync signal (marked TP4 on the underside of the board) to the 2nd pin from right to left on the top row of the video connector pins (with the av connector pointing upwards). On VA3/5 boards you can see the cap having a trace going to that exact spot, on VA0/1 you can see a trace from the upside of the board going to that spot. On VA9 you can't see jack cause of all the white paint, but the connections are the same. (on VA9 you can probably cut the entire +9v pin on the psu since it's ONLY purpose is the line to the a/v connector)
I haven't tested this so you may want to measure the voltage on that +9v pin before connecting it to TP4 however.

Yeah, I think that too. But I'm also writing my own CMS for the page and I first need to add capability in it to handle menus and articles.
