HEY EVERYONE... I'm new to the SS:UK forums, but not the Saturn itself I'm hoping to engage in some interesting banter with you guys (and Gals!) about the Saturn, hopefully covering JPN and PAL discussion. I won't bore you with my SS history (unless it's requested?) but I've had a PAL Saturn since they 'were around' - maybe since 96 or 97(!) and I started collecting for JPN releases around early to mid 2000's. So I've been 'at the Saturn' for quite a while now. As is no doubt given away by my username; Yes, I'm an avid (not rabid) NEO•GEO/SNK fan, first and foremost. However, I have always enjoyed the Saturns SNK ports for my 32-bit KOF'ing, FF'ing & SS'ing needs! I'll be happy to share any details etc on my collecting and so on if anyone wishes to discuss it. Otherwise, I'll no doubt "see" you guys round and about. I look forward to becoming acquainted with you all!

HAHA, THANKS BLUE TIGER, BUT... does that mean I can share it aka bore PPL to death with it or, you actually wanna know? Welcome I take you're an avid Fighting game enthusiast then, how about STG (shmups)? YEAH, I'M BIG ON... fighting games Harlequin, and seemingly you called it; STG's too! It would appear due to the heavy arcade nature of both genres that STG's and FTG's are intrinsically linked?! As it happens, fighting games are my favourite genre followed VERY closely by Shmups. The way I term it is that Shmups are the perfect (for me) for 1P game and Fighters are the perfect 2P game. Although both are of course interchangeable in that aspect that's how I prefer to play those genres, so they really compliment each other for me. Welcome to the forums Ninja THANKS MICK... and sorry for all those garbled PM's earlier. Luckily I managed to figure it all out in the end... painlessly!

I won't bore you with my SS history I thought it was mandatory. Unless of course you mean your history with the SS, in which case it's probably best not to mention it. I've been 'at the Saturn' for quite a while now. Have at it ;D

Hmm, I'm glad someone else all ready mentioned asking for NeoGeoNinja's Sega Saturn history (or whatever you call it)... then I was sad to see someone else say no... and NeoGeoNinja actually took that advice! ... Well I sure for one can't get enough of them and would very like hear what what an awesome (or lame. All good to me) story he's got to say. Other then that it seems NeoGeo turned up to be quite the awesome new member here (I just found out he was new here, so it wasn't hard to track down this topic), as I see he's amassed quite a few posts in a very, very short time! That is very awesome and something I always like to see (especially when the posts are very good and interesting, as it seems from the very few I've read... right now I'm currently reading his post history. Talk about being NeoGeoNinja fanboy already, lol... well I couldn't help it. He responded very well to a post of mine nobody cared to answer, he happens to like NeoGeo and I just discovered his reply after I finally just spent some time with this most awesome 16-Bit, extremely arcade like feeling system... part of the arcade feel comes from the resolution it uses... same as why I love Sega Genesis graphics so much because it uses the same resolution as the Neo Geo and most Arcade games. Toss in a good scanline filter like MAME UI32 0.140u2 has, by the name of Scanlines0x4_i4, pixel aspect, and it feels like your there.. at the Arcades.. of course).

Well I sure for one can't get enough of them and would very like hear what what an awesome (or lame. All good to me) story he's got to say. I GUESS MY 'STORY'... had unintentionally fallen by the wayside to be honest. I hadn't really much to add that many haven't touched on before. However, seeing as you have taken a genuine interest (Sinful) I'll be sure to post my Saturn life experience (lol!) here in this very thread in the very near future. Just need a bit of time to sit down, remember and chronologically place certain events and times in order. Nothing heavy mind, just recollecting as accurately as possible Other then that it seems NeoGeo turned up to be quite the awesome new member here (I just found out he was new here, so it wasn't hard to track down this topic), as I see he's amassed quite a few posts in a very, very short time! He responded very well to a post of mine nobody cared to answer THANK YOU SINFUL... there's some very kind words expressed here. It's very nice of you to say such things and I really appreciate it. Yeah, I sure have amassed quite a lot of posts, but it has calmed down a bit now. When I first joined I was literally 'like a kid in a candy store'! There was just so much I wanted to catch up on and discuss/comment on. It's all your guys' fault to be honest, discussing and posting about such interesting things! Overall though, I've really enjoyed my time here at SS:UK so far and I'm also happy to hear that I make an interesting read ;D As for the who WipEout thing? No worries mate. I was glad to be of help. Remember to update me via that specific thread with your findings and experiences of WipEout. I'm always keen to read about it he happens to like NeoGeo and I just discovered his reply after I finally just spent some time with this most awesome 16-Bit, extremely arcade like feeling system... part of the arcade feel comes from the resolution it uses... same as why I love Sega Genesis graphics so much because it uses the same resolution as the Neo Geo and most Arcade games. I DO INDEED... like the NeoGeo, it's just bloody expensive to collect for! It's a console I collect for slowly in the background, due to the cost of some of the games here and there. Although the games are (imo) amazing, it's just sometimes more economical to spend those amounts of money on a number of purchases for other consoles. My collecting has calmed down now though, so I can concentrate more on my Neo this coming year

Hey, have you considered the MVS? Or are you like, hardcore collector?
MVS is a pretty good low budget solution.

Hey, have you considered the MVS? Or are you like, hardcore collector? MVS is a pretty good low budget solution. MVS HAS DEFINITELY... been considered, and is still something I haven't ruled out in the future. My issue with MVS is condition. The carts always look like they've seen the back end of an ice hockey match! Replacement cases and labels are available, but these are generally frowned upon if I ever came to resell them. Then there's the issue of the CMVS itself (i wouldn't be using a cab see). They're all dogsh*t ugly imo, even the ones that really try (with plexiglass and lighting etc). Sounds messed up, but I just wouldn't want one amongst my collection. There has, however, been a recent release of the OEM (Omega Entertainment Machine) which is a fully plastic moulded look alike of the AES. Pricey, yes. But well worth the price for a fussy git like me. I GUESS I'M NOT... a full on hardcore collector, but I'm definitely passionate about my collecting - condition, complete, not scratched/sunfaded etc I guess I should post some pics up of my collection at some point. It's just undergoing a bit of a metamorphosis at the moment, as I've had to sell of my entire SNES collection recently to fund some AES purchases and to fund life in general ;D

AH YEA... AES games I'm picky on too, but I have an exposed two slot MVS board missing it's top cover hooked up to a home made supergun made out of a tupperware container and a vacuum tube with some ugly as hell previously-in-a buried-sand-hole MVS carts (no kidding, I opened them up and they were filled with sand) poking out on top. I find the MVS is just fine for loose carts, and I tend to worry less about the condition of it which lets me focus more on having fun and not worrying about getting a copy of Blazing Star dirty. The initial cost for the setup is expensive, but it is cheaper in the long run than the AES. What I paid for AES Waku Waku 7 alone, I was able to get myself a supergun, MVS board, and 12 games for it (including Neo Turf Masters, Metal Slug 1, X and 3, and Blazing Star) Yea the condition is usually crap, but the games are still just as fun and I love not having to worry about a $1712837218937921 cartridge getting a speck of dirt or scratch on it. MVS games weren't designed to be seen by anyone but the arcade operator afterall. BUT THAT'S COOL... that you collect AES games. I wouldn't mind seeing the games you got actually, and I do admit the cartridges and manuals and cases are pretty charming on the Neo. Myself, I got three games before I gave up and went MVS. lol How many AES games do you plan on getting? Is a full collection in your sights?

Myself, I got three games before I gave up and went MVS. lol How many AES games do you plan on getting? Is a full collection in your sights? MY AES COLLECTION... is growing steadily. I intended to grow it from the ground upwards, starting with the older, awesome titles and working my way through to the more current 'top end' releases. Financially, it made more sense to to it this way (I guess I'm relating to fighting games mainly here). However, I have since acquired a few 'big hitters' as they were offered up to me at too good a deal to ignore, thus, forcing me to break my original principle. I'm still going from the ground up where possible though and make SURE I sit, enjoy, play and appreciate each individual iteration before I move onto the next. Just like you (we all) used to, as the sequels did not exist at the point of acquiring that new title. AS FOR HOW MANY? Hahaha... as many as I can get within reason. I'm NOT one of those crazy completist types, putting games that I either dislike, or are crap in my collection for the sake of it. There's no point to that, as I'm not being honest with myself. All that does is create a show piece, to show others, to brag about, a talking point etc. Not my thing. It does however educate an individual as to what a console has going for it overall, but I'd still only keep the stuff I actually care for/like. Luckily for me, the NeoGeo library is relatively small but full of high quality titles. I'd say it's quite difficult to find bad games on a NeoGeo BUT they are certainly there. This is purely my opinion of course. Someone who has zero interest in Fighters etc but craves RPGS's or Platformers would have little to like about the NeoGeo to be honest. Given Fighters are my No.1 genre followed very closely by Shmups (2nd) and Racing Games (3rd), I guess I have plenty to be getting on with here! I'd definitely be willing to add some beat em ups and certain sports titles to the mix too, especially WindJammers, Neo Turf Masters and Dunk Dream. Football/Soccer games are a genre I NEVER touch though... (Sensible Soccer was ok though )

Pics please! Show us your Neo collection I'd like to try my hand at making a CMVS some day, seems like a fun project. I think I will wait for Mmmonkey to do up a guide because I don't think much of the ones on the net currently.
