Some PAL titles may have extra content or some other nuances that make them better (ex. audio was mastered by an idiot in some US versions and have skips in the beginning).
You can always just use an RGB connector, which makes the picture quality difference zero.

I do use a scart but actually there is a lot of difference..The graphics look better on pal versions, the difference is on the resolution so in some cases i prefer playing pal games to enjoy the graphics better..here's an article i found:"Another difference between NTSC and PAL formats is resolution quality. PAL may have fewer frames per second, but it also has more lines than NTSC. PAL television broadcasts contain 625 lines of resolution, compared to NTSC's 525. More lines usually means more visual information, which equals better picture quality and resolution. Whenever an NTSC videotape is converted to PAL, black bars are often used to compensate for the smaller screen aspect, much like letterboxing for widescreen movies."

That's probably more due to your TV's (incorrect) deinterlacing/processing than anything the Saturn's outputting. When you are talking videogames, it's actually 288 PAL versus 240 NTSC. It's rare that those extra 48 lines are filled with anything that would make the graphics look significantly better.

On the Saturn it's actually 256/512 lines versus 240/480 (or 224/448 depending on game) lines. Honestly not much of a difference.

Depends on your definition of well, I don't know any LCD, Plasma or HDTV's that correctly handle 240/288p material, some make less of a hash of it than others. The only ways to handle the signal correctly are to get a CRT or a 240p aware videoprocessor.

WS as in widescreen? That shouldn't matter a jot as long as you turn your TV to a 4:3 aspect ratio of course.

well, depends on the set, I've used the zoom/pan features on the DVDO to similar effect.

I'll take 60hz full screen full speed with RGB cable *so NO difference in colour* over a few extra lines on a pal version where you don't even notice it anyway.

Agreed, to be fair 60hz gaming is best, whether it's Pal 60 or Ntsc 60, 50hz gaming can't touch it.

Technically you have more cpu power to use in 50hz mode, but it doesn't really matter for the Saturn. But on a C64 though...

That depends entirely on the game in question and how it's been programmed. There's not much point playing games at the wrong speed.
