I have just bought from a store in Manchester, what I thought was a Japanese copy of virtua Cop 2. Upon closer inspection the disc says for use on PAL and Secom systems and and the front cover insert is just a folder piece of card (not instructions) and the back cover just has pictures It's all official and looks like a PAL release in a jewel case? Is this right? I didn;t think there were any PAL releases in jewel cases? Is this maybe just a pack-in game that came with the system (I think NiGHTS might have had some printed like this?) or is it maybe a promotional copy?

Based on my own collection, these games definitely came in jewel cases:
Virtua Fighter Remix* Virtua Cop/Virtua Cop 2/The House Of The Dead (with Virtua Gun) NiGHTS into dreams... (with 3D Control Pad)
*This one was also released in a full cardboard case (as were the others), but I've yet to add it to my collection.
On the subject of NiGHTS, a few years back I was looking to find a spare copy in the standalone cardboard case so it didn't look so out of place next to my other games. A local rental store was clearing out its Saturn range, and incredibly I was given their copy of NiGHTS for absolutely nothing. The case itself was as good as new and even had the manual, but what was even more surprising is that when I opened it up there was the disc for Christmas NiGHTS staring back at me - I already owned this, though I still consider that one of my luckiest finds to date! I'm guessing that someone had previously swapped the full game for their disc (possibly from the cover of SSM) and the store hadn't noticed.

VF remix was NEVER released only in a jewel case, the double jewel case came in a larger card box and then there was also a normal PAL cased release.

Actually, you've just reminded me of why my copy of VF Remix came in just a double jewel case in the first place...
Back in the day I ordered this game and Shellshock from Gameplay - a company that often took out full page advertisements in SSM. After waiting an eternity, both titles finally did arrive, only the outer cardboard box for VF Remix was completely wrecked, while Shellshock's wasn't much better. Despite calling to see if they'd consider replacing these, I was told that as long as the discs were in playable condition they weren't interested! Can you believe that? A little while later, I ordered Virtua Racing from them as well - when the same happened again I decided to take my custom elsewhere.
