I currently have an Action Replay 4-in-1 plugged into my Saturn's cart slot. It seems like the cart slot on my Saturn has been hardly used before I bought it (I got it used). So, is it a good idea for me to buy an official Sega Backup cart and switch between that and the Action Replay? Or is the Action Replay going to warp the cartridge slot by taking it in and out a lot? I don't want to screw up my cart slot as it is the only way I play my imports.
I know the Saturn's cartridge slot is known for wearing out quickly using third party carts, but I have read that official Sega carts don't screw up the cart slot. I am considering buying a Backup cart so I can finally play Hexen and any other games which might require an official backup cart (is Hexen the only game which absolutely needs a backup cart?).

Honestly, I think this is partially a myth. I've had experience of number of saturns that never saw anything but an official cart, but they still require lots of diddling before recognizing a cart. And I know I'm not the only one who's had the same experience. And I say "partially" because yes, I can see that the PAR board is thicker, so it probably doesn't help wearing the cart slot out, but in my experience, it just doesn't seem to make that much difference one way or another. The saturn cart slot is just a piece crap, no other way to say it.

It also depends alot on how haphazardly some dullard had been smashing the cart into the slot.
