Just wondering if anybody has an insurance policy for their pricey retro collections or whether they just count it as covered under their contents insurance?
If anybody has insured theirs, who’s it with and what are the premiums like?

Have our home and contents insurance with Legal and General, every individual item, not collections but say each Saturn game has up to £1500 cover. Obviously you don't get £1500 for each game or piece of hardware if the worse happens, but up to that amount to cover the cost of replacing it.
After an 'incident' you'll need to provide evidence of how much each item will cost to replace, or shoulder the cost of replacement yourself and provide your insurance company with receipts to reimburse you. Each insurance company varies on the handling of this.
Specialist 'collection insurance' can largely be a bit of a rip-off as it's intended for things like fine art collections etc. so you'll pay through the nose.
I pay just under £20 a month for just the content insurance...
EDIT: I almost forgot the most important thing... photograph and list EVERYTHING and either keep the photos online or somewhere that's not in your home.

NEAT... I just watched the video. It amused me. For example... 1) @0:41 - "Let's meet *surprise surprise* Josh". Dropbox is American then? 2) @0:51 - the image on the phone? You know, when you examine the picture, but you KNOW you haven't quite made it out properly yet. Hmm... I see a guy lying on the floor, like he's just been hit by a high speed vehicle collision. Correction!... THAT IS the image... I've decided. I'm calling it, here. Now. 3) 1:05 - "These folders work hard to be exactly alike. Even across Macs...". Well, he says "Macs and PC's", but that kind of contradicts his point, doesn't it. It doesn't pay to be polite... just be honest: You... had to work hard (Dropbox)... lol. 4) 1:32 - Menacing Hippo and... 5) 2:03 - I expected an amusingly animated fatality. Don't know why, thus... Points 4 and 5, illustrate to me, that Dropbox is not only a good way to catalogue images etc on the move, but also gives a good indication as to what point you had reached in life, before it tragically ended... via Hippo, Rock Climbing, Drowning in a Jeep... or whatever. I'dve got a photo of the Hippo and saved it to Dropbox JUST before it chased me onto the river bank and chased me at speeds matching that of a racehorse, thus trampling me to death in the process. My mother could then, at least, have a photo of the Hippo for her wall...

Dropbox is a bit shitty for privacy but otherwise pretty good, I've had an account for a while now and not had any issues with them. Sure I wouldn't put anything sensitive in it but for random junk it's fine.

If you made the sudden decision of buying this average insurance costs policy, it may prove costly. Moreover, there are numerous things you have to consider. You must realize that, the value of this insurance does not increase rapidly; rather, it is a slow and gradual process.

It's very rare for anything to happen. I have many items which some people would make feel alot better or scared something is going to happen. It's always good to get some sort of insurance.....then again, nothing could happen.
